Knights of Legend
Somewhere, in this topsy-turvy hellhole I call home, I still have my C64 boxed copy of this. Back then, when I was a kid, I just didn't understand the combat well enough. I'd love to try again....
I had this years ago for my Commodore 64 and, while the combat was grueling and endless, I've always wanted to go back and tough my way through the entire game, perhaps even finishing it for the first time. In 1989 it struck me as innovative, though now i can't even remember why, but I always promised myself I'd keep playing. And then the C-64 reached the end of its life cycle and retired to the closet, from whence it never returned. (It's probably in a landfill now.) There's a DOS version and I'd love to play it, preferably from GOG.
Knights of Legend was brilliant. It had a detailed world, a deep combat system, diverse monsters, a custom magic system, beautiful artwork. I have two boxed copies of it on my shelf.
I hope GOG can obtain it.
I second every comment here...this was THE game for me on my C64. Man I wish those expansions came out...and what a phenomenal manual! It really added colour to the setting and races in the game.
Imagine playing without all of the disk swapping or overheating. That would be awesome. I hope it makes it onto GOG!
I remember this game very fondly as it had the feature to allow you to customize each character's portraits and I spent many, many hours trying to arrange those crude pixels into something heroic for each party member.
My first RPG (and you always remember your first, amiright?). We had just gotten our first family computer for Christmas (a Vendex Headstart II) and my dad took my brother and I to Electronics Boutique to pick out a game each. When I saw the He-Man looking dude on the cover I was in. I read the guidebook from front to back, most of which was the history of the land, and 'anecdotes' by Cullen of Kurlock about the different races. I think I still have that book somewhere. For years I bugged the hell out of the associates there asking when expansions they talked about in the manual were coming out. I had it on 5.25 floppies, and it took minutes (minutes!) to go into town at times. It would be like playing EverQuest back in the day on dialup.
Anyway, love this game, and would love to add it to my collection.
I wish they had been able to do the expansions they had originally planned. I remembered that several of the cities near the edges of the maps had stubs designed to allow them to add new lands and adventures down the road. Oh well.
As the others said, I'd definitely love to buy a copy if it were for sell.

This game really needs more love. I'm going to have to find a working floppy drive if I want to play it again at this rate.
I have wanted to play this game ever since my C-64 stopped working way back when. This game used to over heat my disk drive from all the loading it did to play the game and I would have to stop playing after every mission to let it cool down or it would crash. LOL Over the years I forgot the name of this game and only remembered it when I saw it in the voting wishlist tonight. Would definitely buy this if it came to GOG.com.
