Also there are so many forgotten tpp gems drakan, heavy metal fakk2, asghan why these titles are not here? :(

"Although Id Software owns the publishing rights to the previous titles, Heretic 2 is owned by Activision since they own Raven Software and its IPs.
Following ZeniMax Media's acquisition of id Software in 2009, the rights to the series have been disputed between both id and Raven Software; Raven holds the development rights, while id holds the publishing rights to Heretic II's predecessors."
Until everyone mentioned above can reach an agreement regarding IP and distribution rights, there will never be a version of Heretic II on any official gaming platform.
However, if you were to search the web for Heretic II, you may stumble across 'unofficial' versions of Heretic II that are 'for testing purposes only' obviously ;-) and there are also guides for running it on Windows 10 / 11...

Claus777 Heretic II is on myabandonware.com. Obviously nobody is claiming the rights, so it's offered as a free legal download there.
They offer an iso of the original win98 cd. It runs on win10, as far as I know.

bob.blunderton I would definitely buy this one, for sure. This was a fairly good but very under-appreciated / under-marketed game.
If it had better marketing or a built-in benchmark back in the day it would have been a much bigger hit, and it was still loved even without either.

andersborg This is IMO the best Heretic/Hexen game by far. Hexen 2 is kind of a cross-lore mess, and the original games are very old-fashioned by now. Heretic 2 on the other hand still looks fair, has a consistent medieval magical feel throughout, and also has some comedy here and there (intended or not). If GOG provided it for a fair price, I'd buy it (again).
old_time_gamer Good News ! Heretic 2 CAN be made to work on Windows 10!! It's tricky but do-able. The system it worked on was an HP Z210, Intel i5 3.1ghz processor, 16 gig of memory, and AMD Radeon HD 5450 graphics card. Here's how:
1. Install the heretic cd and do NOT let it auto run.
Note: If you don't have a cdrom you can try using
an .iso on a thumb drive but I've never tried that.
I've never gotten it to play using an .iso either.
2. Open explorer and locate [cdrom drive]:\setup\setup.exe
3. Right click on that and choose "run as admin".
4. Stay with the defaults for now. Just keep hitting "enter"or "next".
5. When prompted, create a desktop icon, don't register, and close all windows.
6. Click on the desktop icon and start the game.
IMPORTANT !! Let ALL the intros and movies run and finish.
7. Select "Game". Don't try to change video or other settings at this point.
8. Choose you game level, ie. Adventure, Action, Armegeddon.
IMPORTANT !! Again, let ALL the intros and movies run and finish.
9. Once they have all completed, the game will just stop playing. There's no error messages, it just closes. Don't Panic (like I did the first time). It's ok.
10. Click on the desktop icon again and restart the game
11. Select,"Game".
12. Select "Load Game".
13. Select "Entering" Silversprings Docks. Let the intro movie run.
14. Once you have control of the character, hit "F5" and create a save.
Now you should be able to hit "esc" and make any changes to the settings you wish.
I personally prefer the Renderer OpenGL32 with 800x600 resolution. Smooths out grainy edges and colors and makes it look more like a Pixar movie.

GrayPJ I would love to have this game. I have it on disc. Sadly it will not install in Windows 7 and higher.
xylenecobalt The rights are all mixed up between ID and Activision/Raven. It's not something GOG has control of.
Don't expect a release any time soon.
