Like its predecessor, Flatspace IIk is a space trading game with a top-down viewpoint that includes rogue-like elements such as a choice of character and a revealing map. Unlike the first game though, Flatspace II includes artifact objects that can be obtained using a new a guild system. If you trade enough for example, you can get trading upgrades such as enhanced defences, and Alien Hunters can obtain special weapons and ships.

Moddable
Following on from Flatspace II, IIk is the first of the Flatspace series to be customised. Ideal for the task, Flatspace IIk allows experienced players to customise or create new items for the game with ease by editing the plain text files that define the objects.

The Scarrid Return
There are two races in Flatspace IIk, human and scarrid. The war in Flatspace II remains although now both sides co-operate more and the game map integrates human and scarrid as standard.
