Duke Grabowski, Mighty Swashbuckler! is an exciting 2.5D adventure game for PC/Mac/Linux/OUYA, in the style of LucasArts and Autumn Moon Entertainment. Projected release date is October 2015.

Duke is a massive, brutish pirate who desperately wants to be an suave & sophisticated swashbuckler. He has a good heart, and he needs your help. He has to complete three tasks to convince his crew he can become captain.

He usually solves his problems by punching. He wants to change, but he doesn't know how.

The gameplay is classic point-and-click goodness that you know and love from games like The Curse of Monkey Island and our own Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island. Enjoy tropical locations, solve amusing inventory and dialog puzzles, and revel in comic pirate mischief.

After Return to Monkey Island and Legend of Monkey Island were released in such quick succession, you'd think that now would be a good time for this game to pop up on GOG...

UPDATE: the publisher has changed their mind. "Good news! Alliance has told me that they are planning on releasing a DRM-free version of the game before the end of the year, and that more details will be coming soon."

The devs state in a backer-only Kickstarter post that, "DRM-free. This is a big issue, we know it. Unfortunately, it seems like we can only distribute the game on Steam, which has DRM. This decision was made by our publisher. We hope we can set up something later with GOG.com or Humble Bundle, but we can't promise it." I am hoping this decision will be reversed...

I'm extremely excited for this game, and would buy it on GOG.com in a heartbeat. Art in games by Bill Tiller are always gorgeous, and Mr. Tiller and Gene Mocsy have improved in the design department tremendously since A Vampyre Story and Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island. They designed Perils of Man: Chapter One, which has some of the best puzzles I've played in an adventure game since the 1990's classics. If Perils of Man is any indication, we'll all be in for a real treat once Duke Grabowski is released. :)
