Hello there,
I saw that Doom 3 BFG was just added on gog. Would it be possible to get the old Linux port there as well? The old port is described there: zerowing.idsoftware.com/linux/doom/Doom3FrontPage/

Although the BFG edition was never ported in-house ( twitter.com/idBrianHarris/status/259700062303698945 ), the game was open-sourced (but not the assets), and subsequently ported to Linux: github.com/RobertBeckebans/RBDOOM-3-BFG Is one of such ports.

Would it be possible to add the port to GOG, to make for a hassle-free experience?

Would it be possible to add Linux ports for the whole series, as they exist?

The DVD Doom 3 (2004) Linux existed! ... Not that of Doom 3: BFG Edition. - but it’s the same engine: id Tech 4 !

The Linux DVD also existed! I don’t understand, why Doom 3 isn’t on GOG?

Please re-word this so that instead of the need to have the linux bins included there is a separate download for the actual data files that can be easily downloaded and used with forks like github.com/RobertBeckebans/RBDOOM-3-BFG

Would save the need in order to install via wine just to extract the data files needed

I don't think you need to ask for the old port of Doom 3 though. It's 32-bit only, while recent refactoring of its engine uses modern SDL, 64-bit and so on. If anything, GOG should package the new variant.

Debian has dhewm3-* packages already built for instance.
