Battlezone completed
Here's a wish for the original: www.gog.com/wishlist/games/battlezone_1998_video_game
make a wish for the original if it doesn't already exist
I disagree with it. Redux isn't the original game.
Well I went ahead and requested a completion, but if people disagree with it, let me know.
Redux is here but this wish won't be completed because the original game isn't here.
DRM or not, I bought it full price on Steam to support the much-appreciated effort.
Too bad the new 98 Redux version has Steam DRM. Wont be buying it until it's DRM free. if that ever happens.
Red Alert + Quake + Descent... in SPACE...
This game has never been surpassed!
Such a nice game! I enjoyed it a lot, it felt so fresh and new. And not well known, making it even more a little gem.
Facebook has a BZ group, and links to DL the game and maps...played with you tapewormz back in the day...cases ladder and all, you were a great player...
Battlezone 98 Redux - www.rebellion.co.uk/games/battlezone-98-redux
This is still, to this day, the best game I've ever played. So well designed in so many respects (and super fun to boot!). Many great hours were poured into this with my brother when we were younger. I'd love to have it easily available for all to play once more.
Now nobody do like this
Jumping out of my damaged hovertank, sniping the enemy pilot and jumping in his former seat to get in the batlle again, all guns blazing... all while issuing orders to scavengers and building a base? Yes! What a wonderful game! Bring it soon, please!
Game was unofficially patched by the lead programmer a few years ago. It works like a peach now on modern versions of Windows. There's also new unofficial servers for it. It's also free. Woot! Still would be nice to see it here.
On the wishlist for what 3 years going on 4... and where is it?
Guys, as far as I know you can download the game + expansion legally for free by now on this site: www.battlezone1.com/
And the official forum still seems to be very active: www.battlezone1.org/
I agree, let's get this game and its sequel up for sale here! I would buy it right now!
"Sometimes it bugs me that Armstrong and Shepard get all the credit, but we all wanted to win the cold war..."
Simply put, the best first person RTS game ever made and there's SOOO much room for improvement.
I've never played it, but seeing some footage of it really makes me want to try it out! It'd be great if they could add it to GOG, they place where good old games never die...
Come on, GOG! Get Activision to play ball on this overlooked classic
Must buy definitely. Hopefully soon.
OMG, a must have, this game gives me soooo much nostalgia!
Another game that was so damn integral to my enjoyment as a kid.
The links below are to a pirate site. That is not cool.
†Trinity†
Fear my mags...
Sweet, thanks for the DL links. It works perfectly on XP, don't know about 7 or 8.
Please add Battlezone!
With Rebellion now owning the property, and their history of GoG releases, it seems like a great time to revisit this wish.
You can get several maps for Battlezone at: home.kpn.nl/lrother1994/maproom.htm
Yes, yes, yes, and yes. I still have my original discs for this and Battlezone II but I would love digital versions. No matter how much I baby these discs they won't last forever. Would be an instant buy for me.
This one especially. You can make this run on new windows but it takes some tweaking. A digital DRM version pre-tweaked would be welcome.
This is my childhood, right here.
I have the original 1998 CD sitting on my desk but obviously can't play it. Would love the GOG magicians to breathe life into it so I can play on Win8!
Overwhelmingly praised by critics and underappreciated in the market, with gameplay blending RTS + FPS elements in a way that still seems novel today, 15 years later. I can't think of a better gog.com candidate.
Would be an awful shame for folk not to have the opportunity of playing this fantastic game!
Please, please, please, please add this.
One of the most fun games where you can drive different battle vehicles. Combined with an FPS, combined with a RTS. Instant buy.
Please bring it to GOG with a version for Mac.
the Battlefield series from EA/Dice is a stripped down version of the Battlezone series. Get the current (2013) patches (by the original devs) for Battlezone and Battlezone II here: bzforum.matesfamily.org
Hey Guys one of the old programs for battlezone has put out a new patch for it 1.5 it runs on Windows 7 great i've been playing it in 1080p at 60fps
The "not-so-cold-war" in space: loved it and would love to see it on GOG.
this game is a must have for GOG. It's one of the few games that I'd say is pretty much perfect and has aged very well. (like Freepsace 2)
+ The Red Odyssey Expansion
www.kickstarter.com/projects/807779870/bionite-origins?ref=liveAnd until this gets finished, how about you give us Battlezone ;)
Battlezone was great, and in many ways it was wayyyyy ahead of its time. It's got pretty much the same complexity as most modern AAA titles. Would be great to have it in GOG!
While this game didn't have a lot in the way of environment to keep players looking around, it did have a great selection of vehicles and weapons. and you could load just about anything onto just about anything (weapon type specific). The verity of missions ranged from the defend your base to hey you can't use a vehicle... go infiltrate this base now! proved that each mission would be different and challenging. plus once you got the satellite array this game could be played like any other RTS with a top down view. what wasn't their to like? BRING THIS GAME BACK
I remember playing and loving Battlezone... would love another chance at it
Another buy here too. My CD version doesn't want to work on my new computer. Even in compatibility mode and playing with the graphics switches, it's still no dice. My only complaint with the game would be that the AI would often get stuck, but it's great nonetheless.
It'd be nice to see this rereleased. I don't see why it hasn't been already. Atari owns the rights while Activision made the game. Both are on board. Must be hard to get multiple sides to agree or something, if that even matters in this case.
This game was so revlutionary, would love to see it here!
