@Decrosion >>i'd love to be able to play it on stuff like my samsung phone too<< It shouldn't be hard to make an Android port since the original port from the guy who made the Desktop Linux and Windows port for me after I bugged him enough was for an ARM device with touchscreen already (OpenPandora). Same CPU architecture, touchscreen, Linux kernel.
Still not here? Damn it GOG, get your shit together :) How many years do I have check up on it? :)
Buy it, GOG.
+1
I'd insta-buy it if it was released on gog. I tried playing the Abandonia version several times, but always got the bug where the entire game would just freeze after recruiting the first Iskai follower, and it was so frustrating; I was really interested in the setting and the plot. If there was a release that fixed the bug and removed the need for DosBOX, I would already be throwing fistfuls of money at it.
Albion was one of the first PC games I ever played. I finished the demo a few times in the late nineties and started to play the complete game a few years ago on DOSbox, but never finished it.
If GOG manages to release Albion I'd love to give it another shot... or two... or three. :)

come on guys make it happen !!
pleeeease
+1 would buy right now!
This was the first game I got on CD rom, the same day we b ought our first CD rom drive. I think we paid $12 for it with box and all. Unfortunately I lost the box and disc since then as I didn't actually bother to play it (didn't like rpg as a kid, too busy playing doom) at the time lol im so spewing now because i played it a few years later and it blew me away and remains up there with ultima underworld (my all time fave rpg).
anyway this game deserves more ports and re-releases.
i'd love to be able to play it on stuff like my samsung phone too!
I'm pretty sure the only reason Albion isn't here is legal not technical.
Personally I would like to have even NOLF type of knowledge of Albion. I mean knowing that you'll likely never see a game re-released is bad but wondering if its all because no one asked is even worse.
So, apparently, Albion has been ported to run natively on Windows and Linux. Perhaps that opens the door for a deal with GOG?

I wish I could hit the vote button a million times. I want this game so fucking hard!

This entry is for this great old game: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albion_%28video_game%29
@IllidanS4
Thanks for the video, could you please link to the original port in the description as well? It was a community thing after all.

Sorry, but Albion Online is in no way related to Albion.
Im so excited about this game. Next release will be summer of 2015

Not sure who owns the rights to Albion now, but I think Ubi Soft bought the Blue Byte years ago.
Here's the new Windows port of Albion (needs game files of course):

That would be hell awesome. Be sure I'll promote it when it is done.
I've asked the maker of the Linux port and he said, that he can compile a Windows port too if there's a demand since it's a static recompilation / binary translation.
Any news about Albion? At least take it in progress would be awesome..
There's a package available to play it in any resolution (great for the 3D areas) and with way better performance than in DosBox:

Not available for Windows though.
Albion is easily one of the top 3 RPGs ever made.
Since it is made by Bluebyte and we have "Die Siedler"-series here too, I wonder why it's not here.
It's like Albion snickers at the current retro wave that tries to imitate it and stays in the shadows, leaning back in it's chair, smoking a pipe and is reminiscing about it's grand adventures.
I can't believe this game isn't on here yet. I was looking forward to buying it :(
A underrated hidden game should be revived on here. We need another original game here. Albion should have exist on GOG a long time ago. Most abandonware will no longer be abandoned.
I want it ! Ich will es Gebt es mit BITTE PLEASSS! Its the Best RPG i ever Played! Pure Adventure , So manny to find , A nice Storry ((Like the Movie Avatar but BETTER!"))
Anyone happen to know what might be holding this back?
YES!!! I have looked on GOG so damn many times to see if this has been added but every time i have been dissapointed :(
The first time i played feels like decades ago when i got it from my brother who actually had internet back then, and the moment i started the game i was hooked.
The story was sometimes a bit confusing but Everything was so well done that there was never an option to not play the game :D
Albion on GOG.com: "Make it so!!"
I own the original german version of this fantastic gem of a RPG. Still I would like to see it here and add it to my GOG collection. I'm wondering why it's not already on GOG ? Maybe this year! :-)
This seems like exactly the sort of game GOG was created to bring us, and I'm almost surprised it hasn't ended up in the catalogue yet. Old, somewhat difficult to make functional on modern systems, excellent quality, somewhat obscure but still with a lot of nostalgia surrounding it. GOG already has other Blue Byte games as well. Make it happen!
Yes, Albion has been available for quite a while on abandonia, but there are still plenty of reasons for GOG to release it.
1) Comfort. Just install via the gog-installer and play. Not having to deal with configuring DOSBox will make this game accessible to more people.
2) Additional language support. As this is a game made in Germany, I'm sure many germans want to play it in their native language, which isn't available on abandonia.
3) Most importantly: Exposure. Albion has been a forgotten gem for a long time, a release on GOG would give this game the publicity it deserves and enable many more people to enjoy this game than distributing abandonia-links ever could.
"Albion is abandonware and already available for free on Abandonia.com (legally)." So-called "abandonware" is not actually legal; if the game were "freeware" it would be.
Someone mentioned that Albion can be found online legally. However, that is not the same as having the game curated and ready to play in modern PCs with no hassle. I am ready to pay a price for any good old game that is curated this way.
