Release the GOG Galaxy client for linux
I've been a strong supporter of GOG and would like to keep it this way, but since I've switched to Linux in April 2025 my preference is shifting towards steam again. Simply for ease of use.
As an advocate for DRM-free games and their preservation I would love for you to support an open source operating system. Considering recent developments in the industry, this might become the only way to hold onto these ideals.

I'm pretty sure that with the death of windows 10, more people will switch to linux. GOG, it's the best time to do that!

+1 would love to use GOG on Arch linux
90% of my game library is on steam over GoG for 1 reason. Steam took the time to support Linux. in fact Steam OS / steam deck are both running Arch Linux KDE. I'm puzzled by the fact for over a decade that a company like Gog proudly declare that your purchased game belongs to you and you can store the install files on your local drive. Sounds like advocate for real ownership and freedom. Yet despite multiple calls each year for over a decade users asking for a Linux port for Gog galaxy they stubbornly ignore the request. There are many many players that would collect in GOG instead of steam if they actually listen and make Linux compatible Galaxy. All you have to do is at least copy steam and release it for Arch Linux. Instead sticking with Windows platform only that works hard to push it's xbox pass over steam. Go open source and you will see the little time and money you have to spend to make Linux compatible Galaxy it would come back 100 fold from your customers picking you instead of steam. Grow some balls and some brains and add Linux support.

I would love to see this happen. Please GOG, let this come true.
Proper linux support is the main reason I've continued to primarily use steam over the last few years. A linux version of Galaxy that has achievements, game hours, and cloud saves would make GOG my go to store for digital games.

Boosting this
With more people moving to Linux, this should be a must!
Wow its been 10 years since this request was added :/
Why does everyone still think that everyone wants to use Windows?
Even with the latest Wine, GOG Galaxy doesn't work.

would largely prefer to use gog over steam but what's the point when there's no proper client for linux
> or give us an API to build on :)
@glink: There is an API (to a degree). Check what lgogdownloader is using.
I've already got well over a hundred games on GOG now and have been on Linux for a few years. Offering games on Linux, but not having a Linux client is unfortunate.
+ 1 As everyone already told I kindly ask for gog galaxy on Linux.
I would love to see linux support as GOG is my prefered store for games.

Future purchases will be on Steam because of this issue

przyłączę się do życzenia i także poproszę o GoG Galaxy na Linuxa
Painfully true.
GOG & Linux have so much common visions and goals. It's about time they can be properly united.

Linux - must be the future, not the garbage Windows-crap!

Linux support would fit very well with GOGs philosophy of empowering the end user.
The upcoming end of Win 10 support and many older devices not being supported by Win 11 might bring people to Linux that will want to continue using/supporting GOG.
(certainly is the case for me typing this in openSuse)
Everyone who has a brain has left windows and is running Linux, Fedora runs every game I have tried so far and without issue. I have moved my kids over and we have been using it for well over a year now without issue.
It's time to ditch windows and support Linux, Fedora is my favourite so far although I do have a soft spot for mint.
