Release the GOG Galaxy client for linux
Moi aussi je reste en attente d'une prise en charge sur Linux pour jouer à mes jeux!
Hi there. Want to throw my support behind this. I am currently trying to get Heroic Launcher to work but no joy so far. It would be really great if there was more linux support. It just makes sense as the market share of users on linux is growing all the time. Get ahead of the curb.
I'd love to see a GOG client for Linux. This is the main reason I hesitate to buy on GOG - I don't want to have to use third-party tools and workarounds to play my games.
A linux app would be awesome. I'm looking to build a linux gaming console, and having more store options would be nice. Either that, or supporting some third-party apps with cloud saves would suffice. Thank you!
yes plz that would be great!
It is about time to do this :)
I would love to have a GOG Galaxy client for Linux.. It is pretty much the only reason I have not pulled the trigger on my secondary system and stil have windows on it.
If you take game preservation seriously, you cant rely on Microsoft Windows forever. You will need to update each game every time, Microsoft introduces some breaking change to their product, and they did this several times in the past.
With Proton however, you might be able to create a more consistent environment. You can fork it, install older versions of it, install fixes on to it.
I think Proton has a much brighter the future of game preservation, and with a few exceptions, it works perfectly with GOG games to me.
Oh, I thought there was something wrong with me, couldn't find the installer while browsing from a Linux machine. I'm about to complete my switch from Windows to Linux, I guess I'll use Steam instead :(
Btw, it's 2025, I know it's not a small project but you're not exactly a tiny shop either.
Pretty please, i would love to use this when i'm moving to linux on the end of this year. When windows will finish protecting their users from windows 10
YES PLEASE!!
+1 especially exciting for the Steam Deck and when my Windows 10 license expires and I switch completely to Linux :D
+1 for GOG Galaxy on Linux. Let's Go!!!
You can run GOG Galaxy on linux by using "bottle's" program and run games whit "proton". I tried it and it work good by most the time, although would be nice to have native linux client.
flushing money down the toilet not implementing this. I don't want to manually install updates and DLC, so steam is all I got, even though I want DRM free, and to support what GOG is doing.
It baffles me that GOG is not available on Linux yet, since several games on the catalogue run through DOSBox, which is available on Linux. Plus GOG's philosophy of keeping old games alive, which should embrace Linux.
Do this and I'm on Linux the same day
Linux client plus Proton like Steam would be a a good thing.
If this happens, I'm switching over back to a Linux Distro,
After SteamOS is supported OS for many things, Heroic Launcher is great, but would better if GOG could support Linux from the get go.
GOG client for debian or ubuntu plz.
Yes please, a native Linux option would be great. I don't like Windows 11 and am looking at going Linux now.
w221 What are talking about, fool..? GoG are the ones that sponsored the FCK DRM website. web.archive.org/web/20201225003258/https
Please don’t. Native Linux games being incompatible with GOG DRM is a feature, not something that should be "fixed".
Another +1. Please, release a GOG Galaxy client for Linux as well.
Thanks to your ignorance I have to use Steam. So thanks for NOTHING!!!
Now that Windows 10 is nearing end of life, it's even more necessary to release Galaxy for Linux.
I bought games on GOG back when I used Windows. I'd do so again once you support my OS.
On the eve of steamOS it would be cool to be one of the first on Linux. Xbox has already taken steps.
+1 for a linux release. The Heroic Launcher comes close, but it means so much when a company shows support.
I'd love a linux GOG Galaxy release!
Please?
yessss please
GOG Galaxy on Linux with Proton (or similar) would be the best. Steam makes it so easy to play games on Linux with Proton. Even MS games work better on Linux with Proton than native on MS.
I use steam os mostly for gaming these days (with the exception of multiplayer with anti cheat). It would be nice to have a native client that can install on steam deck easily.
Given Epic Games' lack of interest in improving its launcher and the absence of a Linux client, CD Projekt has a clear opportunity to become a true competitor to Steam in the segment.
Agreed. Would love to have the GOG Galaxy client on Linux. Working with heroic devs, I am sure that most of the overhead and hurdles you would get through in no time.
If you are not planning to release linux client, please at least make sure that Galaxy is running fine under wine.
A Linux version or support for an alternative launcher that receives gog functions (cloud saves). Like heroic, Junkstore, Lutris would be super cool
I'm honestly surprised with GOG's game preservation efforts that there isn't already a Linux client. Please and thank you!
I would love getting a GOG Galaxy client on linux. I have stopped using windows for gaming and only have linux installed on all of my computers. I used to dualboot for years so I could work on Linux and game on Windows.
But now, for at least four years now I have been gaming elusively on Linux.
I plan to get a steamOS deck of some kind and GOG working on SteamOS and Linux would allow me to start using GOG again.
I use linux for last 20 years. My money is waiting, when there is a linux client.
If you really want the games to live forever, breaking out of the Windows straightjacket is a necessary step.
This is something that would be super helpful for users of SteamOS, Bazzite, and just Linux users in general. I really hope that GOG takes this suggestion seriously.
GOG gives us autonomy over our games, Linux gives autonomy over our hardware. The perfect match. So close, yet so far...
You can hire "Heroic Games Launcher" dev for this job. It already works pretty nicely but we would like an official launcher too. Linux people already loves DRM-free and GOG Galaxy launcher for Linux would be awesome.
A Linux client with Proton support would be awesome.
This has actually been a major concern for me lately. I've been increasingly considering switching to Linux, and while the time still isn't ripe for that, it's starting to be a concern for any new games I get. I'm happy with GOG supporting Linux, but I would also like being able to get achievements on Linux.
It goes without saying, all your work GoG is greatly appreciated. Just wanted to say, THANK YOU.
You had a few years to work on this, nonsense that it has not been done. Please support the Linux community. Supporting us will also lead to larger market share and ultimately who knows, maybe at some point Linux will get proper drivers for the video cards as well, as demand grows. Win-win.
