Release GOG Galaxy 2.0 for Linux
Would very much love a Linux GOG Galaxy client.
GOG team, please client linux.
Used Linux Ubuntu for the first time in 12 years. I would like to see GOG come to Linux. I would like to see a release push for Linux, I'm all hands on deck!

With a Linux version of Galaxy will also come the demand, that every games runs on Linux. Quite not the easiest task to tackle.
Well, then there are projects like lutris, that are open source. Those projects can be plunde...used to take inspiration form on how to integrate wine/proton layer functionality into Galaxy. That shouldn't be the hard part, as this is work you invest once in and improve whatever comes out of it.
However maintaining a wine/proton layer configuration for every title and dealing with the fallout, when something breaks, that will be the really messy part. I see why GOG would shy away from that.
BUT...there are ways to accomplish this. Divide and conquer. Yet again lutris (as an example) already has a database with compatibility configurations for many games. Not the best configurations around, but a place to begin.
Also: Shouldn't game developers be the party with the highest interest, that their title reach as many gamers as possible? Shouldn't they, as the people who know their own products the best, test and provide a configuration, that let's their game run smoothly in wine/proton? Shouldn't they provide it at least once after release? It should be mandatory for windows games.
So, there are ways to handle this.
The Linux gamerbase isn't big, ...for now, but it grows. The advent of Windows 10s death is around. Quite some people will test the Linux waters with there toes. And as it stands Steam + Linux Mint/Fedora/Bazzite/aso will make them stay. AS STEAM CUSTOMERS! Games bought on Steam won't be bought again on GOG. Those bucks saved by not spending them on tech support for Linux gaming, won't be as much as the money lost to steam. GOG games do run smoothly on linux with 3rd party software (Lutris/Heroic Game Launcher/steam client), but its a hassle to set up. Buying and running them on steam is easy. Easy = good. -> GOG Galaxy on Linux it is or you lose customers! Don't wait too long! Don't lose out!

Would love this on Linux!
I truly appreciate GOG and the mission behind your preservation project—it's something I deeply support. I’d love to back GOG even more, but since switching to Linux, the lack of an official launcher has made that difficult. While the Heroic Launcher is a great community effort, I’m really hoping for first-party support.
Please consider making this happen—there’s a growing Linux user base that left Windows for similar reasons, and many of us would gladly shift from Steam to GOG to support your values and vision.
Please add linux support.
Windows 10 is EOL and Linux become a serious gaming plateform
The time really is now, with MS ending support for 10 next month, I and a lot of other long-time Windows users are going to be jumping to Linux full time for our gaming PCs.
I'm sure there's a bunch of devs in the open source community who would love to work alongside GOG in developing an official fork of Galaxy 2.0 for Linux based OSs.
Guys I reached to GOG's support and asked about this. They told me that they can't promise anything right now, but they have acknowledged, noted and passed along to the relevant teams the demand.
I really hope they release it, Heroic Games Launcher is really good but limited in many aspects, an official release of GOG Galaxy would benefit everyone.
Recently moved to Linux Mint from Windows 7 since I cannot in good faith trust windows +10, while I am using Lutris/Wine to run my gog games, it would be nice to have a native gog app for Linux, though since running everything through lutris works just fine, it does mean I'm not getting any of the game benefits like achievements or hours played from the games because they aren't running through gog galaxy, hoping GOG can make it happen.
I've come to love Linux, and I haven't regretted my move.
Haven't we put up with this long enough?! Windoze is a piece of crap. The last good version was Win7. Now they're threatening us with an even crappier version Win12. We don't need it, we don;t want it, the rest of the game world already knows damned well that their games run faster on Linux.
WHERE THE HELL IS THE GALAXY CLIENT FOR LINUX?!
I've been telling you folks for years that you need to get on the Linux bandwagon. Now there is a third party client for Linux. So... some guy.. some independent third party hack.. can write a Linux client for GOG.. but GOG cannot?! COME ON, GUYS!! Get with the program! You're losing business, hand over fist!

Always had the impression that GoG was primarily Linux focused for some reason.
Big disappointment when I found out it doesn't even have official Linux support for it's launcher.
This is a must. Especially now when a lot of people will finally ditch windows, due to their anti-consumer and anti-privacy practices.
Isn't the main idea of GoG; owning the games you buy and being able to preserve them? That would fundamentally align with officially supporting Linux.
There are only a handful of programs keeping my main pc on windows gog is one of them, but my laptops been linux for years. it would be nice to be able to run galaxy on both devices.
@MaevenLNDIL You can still play GOG games on Linux, there are open source launchers that make it convenient to install and launch them. The two most popular I know of are Lutris and Heroic, personally prefer Heroic.
Would still like to see GOG Galaxy get a Linux version though. The social features, achievements, GOG Mods, etc. would be great to have.

Please, please!!!! The Linux community are you friends! Seriously, put out a poll to all your users. Ask how many are using Linux!
I switched to Bazzite over 5 months ago to be able to play without necessarily installing Windows 11. And I was surprised to see that my games run better than on my Windows. So I decided to download my games to Bazzite first, to see if it ran properly, and now I only buy SteamDB-compatible games. So please!
I love GOG and would love to be able to buy more games on it. But it's not native to Linux, which puts a brake on buying new games.
It's time GOG devs... Windows 10 support ends for many of us with older systems that can't upgrade to 11. Make an official Linux release and watch your user base expand dramatically in the following months!
A agree, now is a good time for GOG Galaxy for Linux to be released.
Notice us, senpai!
Absolutely!!
GOG was my favourite store before I got a steam deck. Because of the tight integration with Linux, for the past 3 years I've been using steam of my primary store. If GOG created good linux integration I would happily use it as my main store again, since I agree with its values much more than steam.
Still waiting for it, as a Linux only user I switched to GOG after the recent problems with VISA on steam.
Would love that, and if possible with big picture mode.

i've had pretty poor experiences with alternatives such as lutris and i do not view them as replacements. it would be incredibly nice if i could just use gog galaxy on linux like i always did on windows years ago. honestly, i'd be happy even if gog galaxy for linux only let me play games from gog
i would because i am linux user only
I would very much appreciate if Galaxy were available for Linux. I'm slowly migrating away from windows and I would be eager to use GOG on linux
Would.
+1 because I'm a Linux only user, please

Why the biggest Steam competitor doesn't have a Linux native client? Especially after Linux gaming became more accessible with Proton
Really would use GOG more personally if they supported Linux!
Yes please
I've finally made the switch to Linux two months ago and couldn't be happier. GOG with its DRM-free games is a match made in heaven with the free and open OS Linux. Please make it happen!
That would be the best way, to support linux.
While GOG Galaxy works with Proton, it runs pretty poorly and is annoying to set up and use.
A native version with a Wine/Proton settings menu would make it easier for people to enjoy their library on the wide array of Linux distros as well as the Steam Deck.
DO IT. This is the year of the Linux Desktop. Windows 10 is ending support. Please help us! I'll give you more money!
The only Thing keeping me from switching to Linux is Galaxy not being available natively without workarounds. Please release Galaxy for Linux.
With the rise of Linux-based gaming operating systems for both the living room and hand held PC's, such as SteamOS and Bazzite, the need for a more accessible means of playing the titles offered by GOG on Linux is becoming greater by the day. The market is expanding due to the accessibility of products like the Steam Deck, offering a convenient handheld PC gaming experience that is accessible to those who want a pick-up-and-play experience. And in the case of Bazzite, it allows for the leveraging of Steam's Proton compatibility layer, as well as Steam Input that allows virtually any controller to work with any game. If GOG was to leverage the community it has built, the growing community of Linux gamers, as well as the open-sourced tooling available for use, I am confident that their platform would print money at an ever expanding rate. And the phenomenal publicity... I'm just saying GOG, it would be a certified "Everybody Liked That" move... Please support Linux GOG
Might I ask for ANY, literally ANY official statement? or some type of assurance like "client is under development" or "We are not planing to release a Linux client. Just use 3rd parties"?
GOG seems natural to support KED and Proton, really surprised no native Linux support. Please please support
For those threatening to go back to Steam, there are at least 3 other gaming clients you can use on Linux that will work.
GoG.. there are three independent gaming clients on Linux that work.. what's your excuse??
Hi again....Heroic Game launcher seems fine at first sight.....
Hi,
just found out there is no linux support. Sadly I've already bought two games. Have to try some shenannigans but in the end I'm not conviced this will work......I do only like steam because of the linux support. Not because of their DRM and ecosystem fixiation.....
If this doesen't work out I'll have to get an reimbursement, sadly.
still no linux Support yet Sighs Fedora KDE Linux support would be great Come on GoG get it sorted out
