Release GOG Galaxy 2.0 for Linux
LOL at you idiots still expecting them to release it after over 9 years this June since they first promised it.
Please give us a nativ linux client
"GOG GALAXY 2.0

All your games and friends in one place."

I know it is in open beta, but it has been over three years now since it was announced and made available and I'd like to at least see some kind of roadmap for when it might be available.
It would be nice to be able to have achievements recorded when playing on Linux.
Linux please.
+1
It's not really "All your games and friends in one place." when Linux is still excluded ;)
Thank you GOG team for all the work you are doing! Me too would like a native linux Galaxy client. However, there are alternatives out there (currently using Lutris and seems to be working for most parts) and I would much rather have more windows-only games being optimized to work on linux.
For linux and with something like proton plz, lol
Aren't we asking for a Linux Release for years now? It is really annoying not having a native launcher because GOG Galaxy 2.0 barely works. I am always using the standalone game installers with wine. That should be an embarrassing to CD Project.
My money is going to Valve until there is a Linux release, DRM be damned.
I see people suggesting other launchers like Heroic or Lutris. Thanks, but THIS IS NOT A SOLUTION! How am I supposed to play an online game like No Man's Sky if I'm the only player in the universe? A proper official launcher is imperative
Nothing yet? Okay, back to steam.
Will check in again in a few months
GOG Galaxy for Linux is so imperative, How about providing some docs on using your APIs and make repo and we'll all help build it!
Please, please, please! a linux-version of GOG Galaxy 2 would be great!
Honestly, I'm here because I google "gog linux" every six months wondering if reason has reentered this small corner of the world.

+1 for GNU/Linux!
I've been a long time supporter of GOG. No DRMs. You actually get the game's installer. Linux versions (when the developer supports it). Efforts at keeping old games alive. That's nice.

So I installed games by hand, then I tried Lutris, then Heroic Launcher. But this morning the latter one crapped on me and somehow deleted one of my games (together with the saves). I suppose (I hope) this never happened to someone using Galaxy.

Do you know which platform has native Linux support, with outstanding Wine support, together with cloud saves, achievements, friends, and now a dedicated handheld console, and has never nuked one of my games?

That's where my money is going to, starting from today.
Came to see if there's an update regarding this. Nope, I guess I'll keep buying at steam.
I too am seeing more and more of purchases going to steam because of Linux support.
From the default "I will buy on GOG unless unavailable" to "I'm not sure if I should buy on GOG because I can't play it on deck". I'm basically moving to only buy a subset of games that I would play only on the PC, on GOG
now that deck is out, this is a must
There is currently an unofficial snap that runs the launcher through WINE. Not sure about the games though.
https://snapcraft.io/gog-galaxy-wine
On Flathub there is also this package, which launches GOG and Epic Games:
https://flathub.org/apps/details/com.heroicgameslauncher.hgl
+1
please, move forward here.
Disappointing to be punished for buying games on GOG when if I had just bought them on steam I'd be playing them right now. Galaxy will never be the launcher to rule them all as long as there exists this *glaring* lack of support.
On a side tangent, the idea linux support takes away from otherwise well-spent development time has many flawed assumptions. There are several correlated reasons linux users submit more bug reports than other platforms, and it really is n ot just compatibility issues. You lose out on a passionate community willing to do effectively free quality testing and development if you make it open source.I hope Steam's moves and success into this market rudely wakes someone up on your team to the piles of money your leaving on the floor.
+1
Sorry GOG, Steam is more Linux friendly so I spend my money there.
GOG going to fall behind Steam real soon if they don't get into the Linux game themselves. They don't even have to offer some type of virtualization like Steam does, I'd be happy with just being able to download the game, then do the hard work myself. Like ScummVM games don't need special treatment, they just work - as long as one has ScummVM installed of course..
The only reason I don't buy my games in GOG is because there's no Linux Client.

I'm once again today buying a game in Steam
GOG would set itself apart from the rest if they offered native Linux support for GOG Galaxy, and made it free and open source software. Why this wasn't done years ago I'll never understand.
Heroic Games Launcher, Lutris and Minigalaxy are all pointless look at how many many native Linux games have no multiplayer because no Galaxy which no third party app will ever be able to support, ever it's impossible because no Galaxy SDK.

For example Northgard: Multiplayer notice: GOG GALAXY is required to access online feature Please note that multiplayer is available on Windows and macOS only.
Heroic Games Launcher ist perfectly fine. No need for any "official" release by gog itself.
A private open-source project can implement everything.
An "official" which will most-likely mean "closed-source" launcher will only have the features gog wants.
It would be friendlier to provide help to the Heroic team to implement all features.
No matter which client, I'd love to use an official implementation then a third-party downloader, written by person xyz on linux.
What's beyond ridiculous (besides this bein' one of the longest running, highest wished, most *ignored* items on their wishlist) is how many literal *thousands* of dollars worth of games they *could* have sold *just me alone* (let alone all the *other* people who bought games elsewhere instead of here over this issue), had they just done this one simple stupid thing, but instead *all* that money I *would* have spent *here* has gone to Steam and Humble Store.
I'm crying my eyes out... Pleeeease :)
I am once again asking for a linux client .
If anyone in CDPR has any common sense and hasn't been living under a rock, they will see that Linux will be gaining a lot of attention now that the competition launched a Linux-based handheld. ;)
Gog fired linuxvangog/hardpenguin in 2019 it will never happen now: https://hardpenguin.itch.io/ he was their only dev with Linux experience, now they just use automated scripts to build offline installers.
I abandoned Steam a couple of years ago for DRM free games and the fact it's so inconvenient trying to play my GOG games almost made me consider moving back to steam just so I could actually play my games without a problem.
Please release this on Linux, not only are desktop/laptop Linux users not able to play on there platforms but now there's a whole new audience of Steam Deck users that cant use Galaxy.
It says a lot that the top 5 requests for Galaxy are essentially different variations on "plz do Linux port"
For those wishing for this, you will be able to use the Heroic app on Linux which can replace both EGS and GOG Galaxy for downloading, installing and playing games. But hey, CDPR, it would be nice to see a Flatpak available for GOG Galaxy 2.0 when I get my Deck on Q3.
I would love it if y’all would make your app available for Linux nativity. I’m getting my steam deck soon. My expectation is the games I purchased from y’all will be playable via proton.
I had started to try to buy all my new games on GOG, but with Linux now my primary OS, I'm in a conundrum. The time is now; release a Linux-compatible Galaxy 2.0!
I'm not happy with what Galaxy dffor Linux or any expansion of Galaxy could ultimately mean for GoG's original philosophy. But still it's a good idea and a must for anyone who uses the client. Why Win only?
The Linux Version of GOG Galaxy has to happen very soon. Windows 11 is becoming unbearable and Steam is going all out on Linux. The only thing still annoying is having no native GOG on Linux once I have switched. Please. Please. Please.
Can we get and official statement informing that the Linux version of Galaxy has been discarded/was never planned/is at the end of the prio list?

That way we can at least stop waiting, hoping and asking.
just do it already, literally just put a handful of people to work on it and you'll have it done in a few months
hello GOG team! I've been enjoying my experience with GOG Galaxy so far on Windows, BUT considering that I also have many games that are also playable in Linux, I think that its time to release GOG Galaxy for Linux as well.
I love the games that I get to play on GOG and I'd love to be able to meet my achievements while playing on Linux as well!
