Option to install from backup
"wait this isnt a thing?"
Is is a thing. Been in Galaxy 2.0 since I got into the beta. Just click on a GoG game > manages install > import folder > navigate to where the game is and select the folder.
wait this isnt a thing?
Would be perfect for games flagged as "other platform" as well. I could imagine an additional button to "Link executable" for the install source path.
This needs to be added to GOG Galaxy 2.0 as well.
This is completed.
Go to a game that is not installed > More > Manage installation > Import Folder.
Version 1.2.31 of Galaxy Client.
I can't believe GOG wont let me use my backup, having to download 27GB is just unacceptable. I wish i could get my money back and buy Witcher on Steam.
Every single file manager/sync program has this feature - it's really a basic expectation.
That's why you have backups in the first place... to use them.
I also agree. I was surprised this wasn't the default behavior. I too download all of my games and keep them on an external hard drive.
I agree. Galaxy should read the backup folder first and install from there in the first place instead of downloading. And what is even more annoying: Galaxy downloads the uncompressed game folder instead of compressed files which makes every download even larger (again 9!!! GB Dreamfall Chapter though the patch is 2 GB only????)
I keep local copies of the installers on all my favorite GOG games, so I don't need to redownload.
Please include this feature!
Am glad I checked whether Galaxy used backups before trying to download (as a backup) then install Pillars of Eternity because downloading 7+ GB twice would have been rather annoying - looks like I'm going to be sticking with the GOG Downloader for a while longer ...
Definately!
Would you also provide the option to install games from backups stored on CD and DVD, please?
I expected this would be the naturally default behavior. Downloading a backup is difficult and non-intuitive enough as it is, but once you've got it, you click Install and it then downloads the game. This is just silly.
Yes , absolutely : www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy/custom_setting_of_galaxy_default_action_response_when_clicking_galaxy_button_on_game_page
