Click one button, or set a schedule to backup save games to ones hard drive and/or Dropbox/OneDrive/iCloud etc. Also be able to chose which games use this feature or not.

This wish has already been fulfilled. Cloud saved games allow you to manually backup your game save. This is accessed through 'backup and goodies' ta.

Heck, I'd be happy if there was an option in the game settings to open the save folder in the explorer/finder/whatever-they-call-it-in-linux.

I was thinking today about something similar. Have Galaxy (optionally) make symlinks from one location (specified in settings) to wherever the game saves it's data. I could then just backup that folder and avoid backing up for example firefox profile with it's ton of web cache files. Or quickly inspect it and find out that Windforge saved games take up over 1G (just a random fact I found out while writing this message) - while I thought Witcher 1 saves would take most of the space. As user below me states, this can't be guessed by algorithm, games put their files in weirdest places. Profile/AppData/(Roaming or Local), (gamename or companyname/gamename), Profile/(SavedGames/ or Documents/ or Documents/My Games/ or Documents/Saved Games/), install dir... One special snowflake even saves to registry (shame on Anima: gate of memories which is otherwise pretty nice), but that's an exception, for most games it is possible. In the end, there are only maybe 10 or 15 location patterns that could just be part of game metadata. Manually going through 1600 games looks like a lot of work, but split that across 16 employees and it's pretty manageable. Or outsource it to a community, this is something I wouldn't mind helping with.

Every single game has its own random way of where it puts save games and how it manages them so there would be no easy way for Galaxy to be programmed to determine this on its own algorithmically. What does make sense is adding GOG server-side cloud save game storage abilities to the Galaxy backend and making that capability an optional feature for developers to use in their games. That would mirror how it is done on Steam and other platforms as a part of their APIs. It would be up to every game developer individually with every game whether or not to support this however, again like it is on Steam. Most titles made in the last many years support it on Steam, but many older titles don't.

Some games store saves in a subdir of the game's install folder, others in some random subdirectory of the user account settings, others in a subdir of the user's home dir. Impossible to predict. To do what is being asked would require going manually through 1600 games and determining where every individual game's savegame files are located as well as any other possible data to be saved, then making custom per-game hacks to do it. Would require a lot of effort, I really can't see it happening to be honest, but it would indeed be a cool feature to have so I'll add my vote as well.

I would love the idea of backing up save files to a directory. I would honestly prefer local backup and in a gzip (or similar) way for each game.

Excellent idea, I maybe prefer that one to cloud saves.
Consider save and restore functionalities so we don't have to bother which folder each game uses for their own saves.
