The Steam Client has a very feature-rich controller configurator tool that allows its users to play almost any game with a controller, even games that are not compatible with it. Right now it is necessary to launch a GOG game via Steam to make use of it, so I think it would be great if GOG Galaxy had a similar feature. The features of the Steam Controller configurator include:

1) Support for many controllers.
The tool not only supports Steam's own controller but it can also be used with PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Switch Pro Controllers. In addition, it also allows you to use other controller types with its "generic controller support" tool.

2) Many button-assigning options.
The Steam tool allows users not only to simply bind a keyboard/mouse/xinput button to a controller button, but it also allows the user to map different functions to button presses, holds, double taps, etc. It also allows users to change a button function when another is pressed and so on.

3) Support for controllers touch pads and gyro.
While a controller is not as precise as a mouse for aiming, the addition of a gyro helps to close the gap significantly, so making use of the gyro is a great plus. The touchpad also helps because it can be used as a menu of sorts. Basically, touching the touch pad could allow the user to choose between a few shortcut keys, for example.

Anyway, I really like Steam's configurator and would love to see a similar one featured in GOG galaxy.
