Dagon: by H. P. Lovecraft

a journey into the uncanny

The most valuable "game" you can have in your library. A tribute to one of the most important horror writers of our time. Great voice acting, great presentation and a lot of valuable secrets and history lessons waiting to be found in your journey as the story unfolds to easily connect the dots of his impressive work.

The Evil Within 2

twisted but not twisted enough

The Evil Within 2 is a great sequel. It is not as twisted as the first title but just enough to enjoy a good survival ride. Apart from the semi open-world design with lots of exploring and crafting to do, it still delivers a solid horror experience. Nightmare is where the game shines. Survival is the best way to start. It is less difficult than the first title, but still has its challenges. There are moments were the AI is dumb, and the game gets a bit easier. The story, has its moments, not to complex, just enough for a good action. You will run and hide, die and keep trying until you get the hang of it. It does have its dull moments and stuff gets repeated but like i said, it still has a lot to offer in terms of content. It is really a shame that a third installment never occurred, maybe with a fresh story.

The Evil Within

have you met your evil within?

Great psychological story, bold concepts regarding mental health issues and how fragile the mind is, how the world within is changed and how it affects other "worlds". Great artwork, monster design and level design, interesting ideeas around mechanics and how they are integrated in gameplay. Haven't met a single error on either steam or gog versions. Difficulty is fair, although i will say that nightmare is a bit ruthless ad i won't even mention Akumu.

Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition

no war will change human nature

well, it's never too late to fall in love with Fallout games. I've been looking for a while for that special something some games offer, you know, the ones that don't leave your head the next day and week, and with the gaming industry that it is today, i came to adore the Fallout series. Started with the new ones and pushing myself all the way to the originals and i must say, this is the greatest time i've spent working on a character and diving head first into a complex universe. It's been a while since i've had this calling. The only game that came so close to this was Obsidian's Outerworlds. I refused to play these games at the time of their release and i made the correct decision because only now i realised how much i needed them and the timing couldn't have been more perfect. Runs perfect on windows 11, 2k res, only a few crashes here and there but honestly i don't mind at all. Even their NPC bugs are hilarious. For me it is perfect with what it delivers.

Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition

a breath of fresh air

I've only played only one game from Obsidian (Outerworlds) and i was blown away by the depthness of its universe. Spending countless hours in character progression while taking into account my moral compass. I started to fall in love with this type of RPG and i started to dive into the Fallout series. I only tried 3 and 4 and i dunno, there is something about Obsidian's writting style which makes New Vegas a true gem. It's not the greatest plot i've seen but it delivers exactly what it needs to deliver. New Vegas feels more alive than the other Fallout titles. It is dark, gloomy, funny, cynical. The world is dangerous not because some big ants poison you or some other critters are chasing you. The world of New Vegas is weak from the poison the old world left on it and it gave birth to predators that you have to handle with everything you've got. The rest you know, same mechanics with a few bonus things added. Great atmosphere with great songs. Excelent pacing while exploring or doing quests. Multiple ways to finish. Obsidian took the base formula and it lit it up.

Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition

another vault another story

I played a bit 3 and New Vegas, didn't had the time back then to dive deeper into these post-apocalyptic games. After the TV Show i gave 4 another shot. With V-Sync forced off , debris and god rays off, unmoded, 2k with 0 crashes, i am having the time of my life. Some dialogs are dull, not too much depth or soul, but it's there for the sake of getting to the point faster, the story could've been a bit more non-cliche, the sole survivor voice acting is just terrible, terrible. Personally I appreciate a more silent protagonist. Grapchis are great, the bugs help me light up the mood, they are hillarious, especially when a conversation is started. I have a great time walking, scavaging, listening to music, working my skill tree and crating stations, exploring the story and map with some great companions with some good emotional dialogs and pep talks and last but not least, getting the upper hand over the heavy enemies of the wasteland.

The Saboteur™

freakin' fantastic

A great GTA style game, set in a WWII universe, with an upset irish bloke who helps the city regain its colors after getting rid of the Nazi invaders. Beautiful and fun

Crysis®

The game that broke video cards

What? A dull shooter that brought joy to video card manufacturers. I had a friend who fried his Radeon card because the fans went like a reactor whenever this game ran. Like i said, a dull shooter with some top secret suit, on an island, trying to admire nature but rudely interrupted by Koreans only to discover that the reason for you being there is much more "sinister" than you have ever imagined with an ending good for a Hollywood movie. It aged...well.... okey, i guess. At the time i realized this one was in the books only as a benchmark game. The only thing to discuss about this game is that it came in 2007 and its graphics were more than impressive, yey. Story? Not worth mentioning it. Characters? Neaah. Sound? Maybe, yes. Gameplay? Nothing revolutionary even for its time but decent, and fluid with a fair amount to explore on a fair map.

Alien: Isolation Collection

The Alien game we all wanted

If you want to know how the original Nostromo team felt while they were hunted by that creature, while desperately seeking ways to escape and not getting cornered, play this game, play it slow, play it on a high difficulty but not too high and still enjoy your first experience. I've put over 50 hours into this one and it is a gorgeous game on all aspects. From start to finish, everything you see and here in the game was done with love from the classic-horror 1970 movie. They created the visual aesthetics researching old VHS tapes to get that old retro sci-fi feeling which is a lot more appealing than what we have today. For a 2015 survival horror game, it does an excellent job even though it gets a bit repetitive, but it offers a great playground. It deservers all the love even if you are not an Alien fan.
