The Legend of Kyrandia (Book One) is a nice adventure game. The story is nothing groundbreaking, but it’s not bad either. Evil clown wants to take over the world. Nothing to be afraid of. Our main protagonist is Hanson, member of the royal family. The evil jester (who killed Brynton’s parents a long time ago) has escaped, and only he can stop it. It occupies a middle ground between being serious and comedic. The presentation of the game is great, the pixelart is good looking and the music is catchy. The voice acting is ok, you will hear Brindon most of the time of course. There are some unique gameplay mechanics that are not present in average adventure games. The inventory space is limited to 10. Because of this you have to swap old items to pick up new ones after some time. The items bounce on the floor. Nice. Interactions are limited, there aren’t individual commands for actions. You also have an amulet, that throughout the game gets filled up with 4 gems, each of them representing a spell. You have to use these spells to solve puzzles. The puzzles themselves are alright most of the time. There are no inventory puzzles, but mazes. You can also die, but most of the deaths are logical conclusions of the player’s actions, and you can save anytime. While the game is generally enjoyable, there are some negatives. While the backgrounds are nice, they can be samey, and a lot of rooms lack interactivity. Some puzzles can be really cryptic, others straight up impossible to solve without trial and error. Furthermore, the unique spell abilities are underutilized. I’ve also read you can softlock yourself at a point in the game, but I can’t confirm that, since I have not tried to do that. The game is also a bit short. Not too short, but it’s not that long. To sum up: this is a good game with great presentation, but it can be frustrating and it’s a bit short.

Hello there! This is an FPS (or TPS, whichever you prefer) game set in the Star Wars universe and I love it. It has a wide variety of maps (each of them is different from the others and usually has some unique interaction) and game modes. Different eras have different factions, in ground combat each faction has 4 classes that are the same and 2 unique classes. Furthermore, almost all maps have vehicles, that any player can hop into and drive, until they get bored and jump out, an engineer steals it from them, their team wins or they get blown up (vehicles respawn at certain locations btw). In space combat each faction has 2 classes, but their spaceships are different. You can also destroy enemy capital ships from inside after you land in them. Fun thing to try: put a bomb on an enemy ship at the moment they take off. They blow up just when they think the fun begins. Oh, and there are vehicles which multiple players can drive (for example: one drives, one handles the weapons, one does nothing, etc. just normal team work). There are also heroes, whom can be obtained by playing well or by random chance (can be changed in the settings). They are kinda OP, but they are on a time limit, you have to kill enemy soldiers to get more of it. At any point in time there can be only max 2 heroes on the battlefront, except in hero assault mode, where every player controls either a hero or a villain. The gameplay is fun, the classes have different playstyles, the music is classic John Williams Star Wars goodness, however, imo the best thing about this game, is that the developers released mod tools for it, so there are hundreds of custom maps, units, heroes, eras and game modes available online. My only critique is that the physics are kinda janky and the space maps feel samey. The graphics are obviously outdated, but I don’t care about that. Runs on a potato! Online was restored in an update, so happy mine laying in blind corners!

Hello there! I played the demo a lot of times when I was a kid. Now that I have the full version I finally could 100 percent it. Positive: - two games in one - charming graphics (Altough I like the look of old 3D games, so don't take my word for it.) - a lot of characters and unlockables - loving, comedic recreations of the most memorable scenes and locations from the movies - lot of secrets hidden on the levels - simple and fun combat - enjoyable and useful modifiers - the amount of content - the music of John Williams Negative: - the vehicles unlocked with minikits can be used only on special levels - the 100% completion reward is kinda underwhelming. (Why give me basically infinite money? I probably already have that by the end.) - in multiplayer the players have to share one screen, can't leave eachother behind - Super Story - the vehicles' handling is not that great Neutral: - the platforming and the puzzles are usually easy. I liked exploring the levels more than platforming, so it didn't bother me. Even with its faults it is a great game, which "feels" Star Wars. I had a great time with it.

I like adventure games and Indiana Jones, but I was a bit disappointed with this one. Positive: - generally nice pixelart (Indy looks like a walking brick tough) - nice references to other LucasArts properties and behind the scenes facts - some good puzzles - multiple ways to solve some puzzles and multiple endings - expanding on locations from the movie - some funny jokes - Grail Diary pdf - I didn't encounter any major problems on Win 8.1 Negative: - few sound effects - no music at some places, and even when there is music it's not always a good rendition of the iconic John Williams score - Pretty bad fist-fighting mini-game. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. And your health doesn't regenarate. - a lot of jokes and situations that don't feel like Indy at all, and take away from the moments. - frustrating puzzles, where you have to use previous information, which wasn't telegraphed at the moment, when you would have had to pay attention. There are semi random guessing puzzles too. - The castle as a whole. A top-down maze full of guards, where you have to do a lot of tedious tasks to avoid them, or fight them in the mini-game. - "WHAT IS" button instead of hover over hotspots -You can get a game over. It's funny the first few times, but it becomes more and more annoying. In the original version you couldn't save in the temple. Thankfully, ScummVM lets you save anywhere. Who is laughing now Ron? Overall, if you want to play something that “makes you feel like Indiana Jones”, this is not the best choice. As an adventure game it shows its age with frustrating design decisions and dated technology. Some of that can be blamed on the rushed development of the game tough. Has some fun moments, but it can be really hard to finish. I don’t think I have ever used a walkthrough as many times as with this title. It’s not really a bad game, but I don’t think it’s a good one either.
