Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale

Text heavy, overly simplistic game

I've tried to play this game twice now. Each time I get to around 45m of "gameplay" before I feel the need to uninstall and remove it from my life. The reason being, is those 45m were reams up reams of unskippable text. If the text were at least interesting I wouldn't mind, but it was almost like watching porn for the dialog. Story essentially is: Father passes away, inherit father's business, debt collector comes along, debt collector wants money, plead debt collector for mercy, debt collector decides to invest in shop (again?), debt collector then gives you a 40m tutorial lavished with over the top otaku "kawaii" text, *head desk*. During that 45m section, I think I interacted with the shop twice. After about an 1:20m, I think I eventually managed to enter the dungeon. Once I finally got to the dungeon, I found it a fairly basic 'zelda'-eqsue experience. Nothing amazingly deep. The shop mechanics, whilst interesting, are quite basic too. This game got a lot of positive press pre/post-release. I agree that the shop mechanic is novel and interesting. But the implementation is definitely not for me.
