Miasmata was an entertaining and enjoyable game for me. At first I had difficulty with the map mechanics but once I practiced in a landmark rich viewing area I figured that out easily. What was difficult was actually finding enough landmarks in certain parts of the game to actually be able to triangulate, but eventually I managed to do it and map out the entire landmass. I played the game for about a day and a half before I ever even ran into "the creature", but I managed to evade it 6 or 7 times before eventually he caught up with me. The creature is a bit creepy at first but you get used to it. Any attempt I ever made to kill the creature with a weapon resulted in injury to myself or death making me believe the only way to avoid it is to run fast enough and get it off your trail, or dive off a cliff or into a tent. With axes and hunting knives all over the island it would have been nice if the game had let you fashion a homemade spear by mounting a knife on the end of a branch or something. I wish the game let you get more creative with constructing survival items or even setting up your own tent, making a back pack etc. Nonetheless, it was a fun game and while sometimes challenging to locate certain items, it only took a few days to complete the game and make it to the boat. I look forward to similar games in the future and hope the developer or some other company puts out similar games that take it to a whole new level of realism.
