The game looks decent enough (it does create the intended sinister atmosphere), but there is no music. You are dropped straight into the game with no explanations. The idea presumably being to be immersive, but without an introduction it just feels pointless. The controls are easy enough to figure out, but they feel unbelievably unresponsive. Pressing any arrow key other than left or right on a ladder will cause you to drop and die. Jumping (the main activity in the game) is a nightmare. Jumps are pixel perfect and there is no smooth transition from walking into jumping. The game is very unforgiving - and not in a fun way. The puzzles are all incredibly easy to figure out, but again, tedious to perform. If this sound like your thing, than you might enjoy this title, but for the rest of you: avoid. All that aside, the game was clearly made with love. It simply isn't very good. Note: I used a keyboard not a controller. The controls really were the main problem with this game, so feel free to add a star-and-a-half if a controller plays better (I don't know) and you have one.
I remember playing this with a friend on a console and thinking that it was good for a few laughs. I bought it on sale, but quickly regretted it. It grows stale after only a few levels. The controls are very snappy and the animation smooth, but something is missing. It's still fun to play with friends to see who can get the highest score on a given level, but I found even that to grow stale quickly.
