Screamer 2

One of the best racing games to date

I still consider Screamer 2 one of the best racing games of all times. I am a huge NFS series fan but Screamer 2 holds a special place in my heart. Fantastically crafted tracks to race, heart pounding music and what was the most important thing for me, incredible car handling and probably the first game with realistic car suspension mechanics (watch replays and observe how tires behave in relation to the ground!). Even games released several years later felt like the car is made of a wooden log and granite wheels. But in S2, it feels so refined and realistic. It was always a real joy to observe perfect runs on replays. And there is one more important thing that i miss with the latest games. Split Screen Mode. You and your friend can race head to head on one computer. If you want to get the feel of proper racing games, you just have to buy this one. I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Driving model requires some adapting but once you master it, it's a breathtaking racing experience.

Cryostasis

Has potential, horrible performance

The start is pretty promising, derelict ice breaker ship in the middle of nowhere, chilling atmosphere of emptiness, pretty good sound atmosphere, all ruined by one and only thing. Horrifically bad performance. I'm not a graphics freak but i do like to look at nice graphics if i have a chance. But this is just ridiculously slow. Battlefield 3, no problems, super smooth on max settings and it's a top tier D3D11 game. All Crysis games run smoothly on max settings. But Cryostasis? No way, it's lagging so badly it's completely unplayable because the moving of character is jerky, mouse is all laggy and game tends to make tiny pauses the entire time. Not something i've expected on Core i7 920 3,8GHz, 6GB of RAM and Radeon HD6950 2GB with such old game... So, before you decide to toss out some dosh for this game, think if your system is fast enough to handle this one or be prepared to decrease graphic settings to make the game even playable. You have been warned!

Screamer

Not nearly as good as Screamer 2

Exactly what title says. They are very similar from screenshots but the essence of the game is quite different. Screamer 2 was the game i played the first and i just bought Screamer 1 not long ago. And quite frankly i don't like it. Let me explain why. It lacks the insane drifting through corners. And because of that, Screamer 1 just doesn't have the charm of the Screamer 2. The same reason why i totally love the NFS Hot Pursuit 2010. It has the very same car handling as Screamer 2. It's insane, it's ridiculous and it's incredibly fun. For me personally, Screamer 2 is still one of the best racing games ever made and i'm really sad that it's still not available on GOG. Because just words simply cannot describe how good the game really is. I still have the original CD which i have just started playing using DOSBOX (really difficult to setup, but it's well worth it). If Screamer 2 ever comes to GOG, i'll buy it just for the sake of running it easier on modern systems to enjoy it some more. And if Screamer 2 ever comes to GOG, make sure you'll buy it as well. I can assure everyone that you won't be disappointed. I'm giving Screamer 1 three starts just because it's the very reason why we even got Screamer 2. Without Screamer 1 there would be no Screamer 2. And that would make me a very sad panda. So i'm glad that they made this game.
