Sunless Sea

It's just bad.

Let me see. You start with barely any money (used to buy both fuel and food, which run out WAY too fast), and make barely enough to resupply (if even that). And if your ship gets damaged? Too bad, no funds left for a repair. Not giving the player tools to deal with what the game throws at them is not "difficulty", it's just bad design. The quest information is really insufficient and unintuitive, sometimes I didn't even know, what do they want me to do. Or where to take something, f.ex. some "Station III", ok, but where it is? Apparently nobody knows, but take me there! On the final attempt to give it a chance, I got attacked by two enemies at once... and apparently your crew can only even aim at one of them then (even though they are far away), and totally ignore the nearby pirate ship firing at you. That's when I gave up, F mark, terrible service, no tip.

Black Skylands

Simple, but good

The plot is simple, but good. Initially it felt like just as reason to go out there and fight pirates, but there are a couple plot twists, which I won't spoil. I don't play shooters much, so can't really compare that part to anything - playing on Easy difficulty, it was all right, bosses provided some challenge, but nothing too hard to beat. Before the bosses, there usually was an object to refill your health, medpack(s) and ammunition, so you didn't go in without. I only died against one of them, but when that happened, I got placed just before the fight, not having to fight my way to the boss again, so that's good. Generally consequences of death are pretty small. There's a few models of ships to pick from, unlocked as you progress, and different ship and personal weapons to pick from (also acquired or possible to buy with the progress of the game). Upgrading ships and weapons costs materials, which you collect in the world (and also making and/or upgrading some buildings). There's also exploration and puzzles - I liked the former, and mostly the latter. Only one puzzle had me resort to the Internet when I got stuck. Overall I give it 4 out of 5 stars, there were a few bugs, but nothing game breaking.
