Otherwise, pass on it. This game hasn't aged well. The interface is clunky, doesn't scale with modern resolutions meaning text is almost unreadable in the menus. The game mechanics are SOOOO SLOOWWW and very simple. The first level at max speed takes 20+ minutes just to get a base up and running. If you KNOW this is the game for you, then buy it. But if you're a rando who never played it, you're going to play it for 10 minutes and continue... never playing it. I remember as a kid the single player campaign is slow/boring so we basically just played multiplayer. So if you have friends to play with, that might work.
People have no idea what the hell they're talking about. Crusader No Remorse? Why? Because you can blow up meaningless scenary? Diablo? WTF are you talking about? This game is not much of a GAME. As in, a story. You can't really upgrade your mechs. The campaign mode gives you 3 or 4 [mechs/hover cars/tanks] to choose from and that's it. You use what it has. Any money you gain has to go to the "freelance mode" where you get to choose what you want. But even then, it's just primary, secondary weapon, and special ability. ALL OF WHICH have to be unlocked. Except all the guns, tanks, and vehicles are INCREDIBLY SIMILAR. This isn't mech warrior. You're not going to be able to tell many mechs apart from each other. The gameplay consists of "enter level, walk around, shoot bad guys--preferably from behind, find exit." That's it. There's no voice ANYWARE in the game. There's little text boxes before a round, and they're basically... well... no story at all. Every round is the same. Go in, shoot "mission object", leave. It's a fun "arcade game". It is NOT a game with a story, narrative, plot, campaign, et al. You're getting a "sandbox" to shoot stuff. Except the problem is, the shooting isn't that fun either. Some guns are better at killing shields, some are better at killing armor. Some shoot arcs. Some charge up. That's about it. But worse, you will NEVER MAKE A DECISION based on the enemy in front of you, or the guns you have. The decision is "shoot [any enemy] from the sides / behind with [guns I have]". Yeah, you may hide away to use arc weapons, or run your boombox van near people and do a drive by "bass hit" attack. But... I mean... without a real narrative, it's just... an arcade shooter. And they say "NEVER!" to multiplayer but that would be the one saving grace... being able to shoot bots together, or against each other. But nope. The devs took FIVE YEARS to make this game (their words) and it's... not much of a game.
Absolute crap for multiplayer. Do. not. buy. - Max screen resolution is 720p. - Two players share the SAME SCREEN, and the screen is centered. So unless you're on top of each other, you can see even less than the already TINY view. - If ONE of the players dies... game over. Not round over... game... over. The whole game starts over again. Crap.
I've been playing through this game the last few weeks. The design of the dungeons is downright beautiful. It makes Skyrim look like a completely half-arsed, game made in a sweatshop. Sure, the graphics are hugely sub-bar, but the actual DESIGN of the dungeons makes them fun to explore and interact with. Every dungeon feels DISTINCT, as if a completely different person with different philosophy designed each one. You know... like a real dungeon would be.
