Syberia

Fantastic Story, Point and Click Game

Probably one of the better, if not top 10, point and click/adventure games I have played, and I have played a lot. Syberia has a unique story with very creative quests, puzzles, and characters. The puzzles are doable! As crazy as they may seem sometimes, I only had to use a strategy guide once (making the mixed drink), most of the puzzles can be figured out rationally. Pros: characters, character development, puzzles, beautiful backgrounds, story, ability to run, and music. Cons: Outdated graphics, but hey you're on gog, what do you expect?

Two Worlds Epic Edition

Boring open world

reminded me of Morrowind, but with better graphics and a flat story. Well the story wouldn't be so bad if you didn't have to go through multiple random sidequests for the story to be flushed out. Because it is an open world, there is a strong chance to miss these sidequests which makes the story better. They missed some good story and gameplay opportunities throughout the game such as the battle of Ashos which was left out and the quest for the catapult triggers where the orcs could have been sieging. Everything is based on you and not concurrent; the seige should be in progress and the karga and the house battling openly against each other. I think that's why I rank it so low, not because of the clunky horse system or the inefficient UI navigation, even the voice matching to the models, that's understandable because those are technical difficulties, but don't try to pretend you are something when you are not.

The Whispered World: Special Edition

Audibly and Visually Beautiful

The artwork is amazing and so beautiful in Whispered World. The atmosphere of each scene is amplified by the high caliber soundtrack. I would give this game five stars based on creativity. I thought it was going to be the usual save the world story, but after completing the game, the story has a deeper layer to it which makes finishing the game very satisfying. I only have on major complaint and that is Sadwick's voice. The voice over sounds like and old guy trying to sound like a child; it's creepy! They should have hired a real child to do the voice, it would have been more believable. I had to take a star off for that. I'm a person that tries not to look at a walkthrough, but the puzzles can be quite difficult and sometimes not very forgiving. For example, if you try to combine items or do something in the wrong order, it will not work. Don't feel bad if you have to look up a solution because sometimes the solution to a puzzle doesn't even make sense! I had a bug in my game where I had to do the dialogue puzzles twice for it to take and continue; took me forever to figure that one out. I usually try something once and move on if it doesn't work. I recommend checking it out if you're into adventure (point and click) games, but beware the awful voice over.

In Cold Blood (2000)

Terrible Controls, Pretty Good Story

Pros: The puzzles are easy enough to figure out and they make logical sense. Entertaining cut scenes. Satisfying ending to completing the game. Cons: Holy crap the movement controls are terrible! Action sequences become clunky when you have to press multiple buttons and move around. Sometimes the action button won't work unless you're in the exact spot. The awkward controls become a problem during time sequences. I had to use a walkthrough a couple of times because of bad camera angles prevented me from seeing the door and a couple of times because I had tried everything only to find out I wasn't angled or facing something right while pressing the action button. That's frustrating! Challenge Mode: Trying going up and down a ladder on your first try! If you can get past the bad controls/movement, then the game is pretty good story wise. I enjoyed the game and the puzzles weren't off the wall in difficulty.

Gothic

Horrible Game mechanics but good story

Pros:many different quests, the story is pretty good to keep you interested. Cons: Horrible Game gameplay/mechanics, during a fight sometimes the buttons you press are not immediate, the camera angles will change on you disrupting your view, you cannot program the mouse buttons to fight you have to hold a button then press another one, and if you try to run away you'll just end up circling the enemy. The ending left out what happened to the Old Camp storyline.
