This gem is proof that geniuses often are the worst human beings, but still can produce the best things. This game is a fantastic masterpiece. If its developper were not an intolerant homophobic white supremacist religious bigot, it would be perfect. Get it at a discount, for that reason alone. But get it, because it is a good game, a very good one. Maybe Styg, the creator of this wonderful gem, will one day come to understant the beauty of this diverse world and stop beoing so bigoted... But in the meantime, he has an incredible talent and should be thanked for that game, if nothing else. A word to Styg: please man, get out in the world outside your echo chamber. You being a master craftsman does not disqualify others, you believing in a god does not make your beliefs superior, and you being intolerant - while thankfully only in speech - does not make you better, only worse. I get you are from a very religious and stric culture, in a country that has suffered. But antagionizing people based on their gender, color, religious belief or sexual behaviour will only create more suffering. Do remember that it was intolerance and communautarism that led your country to a most brutal war not so long ago.

Very beautiful environments Very optimized (runs smoothly at 4k, no crash, no visible bug) Good Sci Fi story Very good interaction with the NPCs and between main characters Coherent world building But... Like all Bischoff games, the logic behind the "point and click" aspect of the gameplay is sometimes (actually almost all the time) very obscure and unintuitive. Lots of traveling and collecting items that are sometimes hard to spot, in a very "point and click - ish" logic. The veteran gamers will know what I mean. All in all, with a good walkthrough, I had a pretty good time playing Beautiful Desolation. But it is sad that I had to - in a way - cheat my way through the game, because, as I said above, the game is gorgeous and the characters are very well written. ... Which can be said of all their other games as well : very good story, characters and environments, but tricky game logic.

https://www.gog.com/forum/battle_isle/windows_10_cant_launch_the_game/page3 The last post made it work, except for the fact that I had to run it with 3DFx Incubation, like someone said earlier, is worth the price by itself. Great game, everyone should try it at some point :)

More frustrating than it is rewarding, yet very addicitive and nice looking. But frustrating. As heck. Unfortunately for my taste, this is the kind of game where you never know how well you've performed until the very, very end of the game. Which takes more than 2 hours, which is a lot. I find it very frustating that there is no bonus whatsoever to your next playthrough, even if you almost beat the boss. I find the fact that luck plays a very high role highly disappointing, The "play 2 hours and find out if your build works" mechanics is beyond me. I find the game to be very unforgiving, very punishing, especially when the luck factor is so high, and even in the lowest difficulty setting. To me, there should at least be some room for mistakes. And I find it even more frustrating when I see all these guides on the Internet, and all the high ratings of this game. All this might be because I lack the patience or masochism or whatever. But clearly, this ain't no game for me.
