-) abysmal fighting system based on clicking your mouse in the right intervals and switching combat styles. if you don't have the "correct" fighting style, you can't hit opponents AT ALL. this could be a game played on mobile phones... or an Atari game. and I don't mean Infogrames... -) no character creation and no signs of anything rpg really during the very very short period of time I played this (honestly, you rarely see a game so absolutely undesirable to be figured out) -) cliche-ridden story I can only call "American". you don't want to have anything to do with something so mundane unless your brain already is mush - and based on what I read, later it gets really ridiculous and embarassing with the focus on having sex with every other character in the game so in utter contrast to the high ratings, this game is pretty much unplayable dreck right from the start. I could only imagine people calling this "one of the best RPGs ever" (if I needed proof of why humanity needs to die out, this would be it) haven't played any REAL RPGs back in the day... but this is GoG where all these games can now be "bought" digitally... it couldn't be more insane
The exclusion of your Bhaalspawn sister is enough for me not to buy this game. Add to that Beamdog's horrible track record of incompetence (losing the rights to sell their own game for some time!) and scamming (buyers of the physical edition do not receive patches! let that go through your head for a moment!!!), the lackluster quality of the enhanced editions (amount of added content is a joke) and the SJW controversy (which I am luckily not familiar with in detail) and you got one of the biggest failures in video game history, before even STARTING the game. I would've still bought it eventually, but when I read on the forum that Imoen wasn't included (WTF) I permanently gave up on that plan. Shame cause I was looking forward to visiting Boareskyr Bridge with her, the place where Bhaal died... I never even watched a let's play of this game. It's better to pretend it doesn't exist (and it doesn't look like somebody is willing to make an Imoen inclusion mod for it either. I guess the saga of Baldur's Gate finally has come to an end now with this conceptual disasterpiece, which is an eternal shame. Beamdog you suck!
