I don't know whether it's hype backlash or something else, but all I could think while playing Hordes were, "*This* gets compared to P:T? Really?" Honestly, the story and writing isn't on par even with Baldur's Gate, far, faaaaaar from it, let alone P:T. Maybe it looks good in contrast with mind-rottingly dull main campaign or even more boring Shadows? Yeah, that I can give - its story and writing isn't as abysmal as for the OC and expansion 1, but that's it. Yet, while NWN is a boring game, it is - as many before me noted - excellent tool. If you dedicate some time to rummaging through Neverwinter Vault's modules, you can make yourself several great games all for the price of one!
