These games aged badly.... Now i enjoyed the first one much more. Had kinda pulpy style to it. I got lost half way and had to use guide to finish the game. Its insane how much information you had to write down but it was kinda old school fun. Im not fan of traveling between areas in texes car. Takes ages to get from point a to point b, if you dont use guide add times 3x because you will travel a lot... Story is simple yet i enjoyed it. Also there is a bug in last section of the game make sure to slow down cycles in DOSBOX go for 1000 or something like that. This will make the game easier in shooting sections and allow you to properly finish the game without getting soft locked. Overall i had fun playing mean streets even but i would say its for curious only. You dont loose much by skiping these 2 games. So mean streets 2,5/5*. Now lets talk about a second game for a bit. I much more prefer this style of gameplay, but there are some horrible gameplay desing choices that makes this one even less enjoyable. I liked the music, enjoyed the locations and some characters were fun to look at but the story and the system of talking about topics really fails here. Also there are a lot of cheap ways to die. Almost at the end you get this weird duct climbing minigame that is just hell to navigate. Story have huge plot holes and end ups kinda abruptly. I did not like this game as much as a first one. Very bad desing, frustrating gameplay thankfully you can save anytime so do that. So for martian memorandum 1,5/5* Interesting bit of history right here. These games didnt age well at all. But they can be fun if you play them with guide. Otherwise they are not so enjoyable in this day and age. Have fun, guys :)
Being a Dik" is a game that certainly has its moments, but it also leaves much to be desired. The narrative can be engaging at times, but it often falls victim to clichés and predictable plot developments. The characters, while interesting in theory, can feel one-dimensional and lack depth. The game could benefit from more complex character development and nuanced storytelling to create a more immersive gaming experience. In terms of gameplay, "Being a Dik" offers a fair amount of challenges. However, the puzzles often lack originality and can feel repetitive, which may lead to player disinterest over time. More creativity in the gameplay would undoubtedly enhance the overall experience and maintain player engagement.
Broken Sword is an incredibly engaging game that offers a unique blend of mystery, adventure, and humor. The narrative is immersive, with richly developed characters and a complex, yet captivating storyline. The game's puzzles are well-thought-out and genuinely challenging, offering a rewarding experience for both novice and veteran gamers alike. The art style is visually appealing, with beautifully drawn backgrounds and character designs that add to the game’s charm. The voice acting is top-notch, breathing life into the characters and enhancing the overall gaming experience. Overall, Broken Sword is an exceptional game that deserves high praise for its compelling narrative, strategic gameplay, and stunning visuals.
This was my first time playing this gem. I loved the simple and fun story and some great point and click nostalgia i had with this one. Game is 5*. Okay now lets talk about Special edition of this game. I had i good time with it but it is not perfect. This game is in big need of dialog skip, next i would like to skip scenes by double clicking the next location. Due to graphical style its also easy to miss the areas and it will make you confused where to walk sometimes. Voice acting and music is in my opinion great - i cringe a bit on love scere but otherwise great. Game have now easy mode that is great for these old school point and clicks you can press H and get little help but if you are cave man smart you can press h multiple to get arrow pointing to next objective. One main probles is with obvious graphical glitches. You can see it was not tested well on different resolution scales and sometimes you get distorted bacground or not matching texture. So if you looking for playing this for the first time great go and get it. If you want nostalgia you can always switch to original game so its good deal.
So let me say first i loved playing the game, exploring the huge worlds crafted with lot of interesting NPCS, quest and diablo like slaying combat. Game was a bit grindy but i didnt mind cause it was fun to clear all monsters inside the dungeons. There is a lot of difficulty spikes in campaing but i never felt like i had to cheat or beat my head agains the wall stuck until the last point of game. And here is my problem i have and why i have to give only 3* because its just horrible. You are put into this wasteland area filled with spongy enemies that take forever to kill (and i played mage was lvl 47 when i entered endgame got all quests done and found all legendary armors and weapons mind you! - my ressistances were 150). So ... This area is HUGE, empty, boring with spongy enemies. It was chore to play but the worst is yet to come. After hours of boring exploration killing tons of spongy enemies you are thown into this dungeon that is just pain. Terrible desing after finishing it left me angry and frustrated. Amount of BS in there is insane. Giga dps enemies that takes forever to kill(check), confusing hallways filled with enemies blocking your way (check), bosses that are insane with energy shield so as a mage you are basically screwed (check) and for fun bosses are in rooms full of hardcore enemies (check check check). Have fun i guess.... And if it wasnt clear i did not have fun. Delete last area and you have 4* game. In the end i felt like i wasted my precious time and if you are in between on purchase of this game i WARN YOU dont play mage and even better go google best DPS build so you can even finish it. Good luck
This is legendary game by many .... I was expecting a lot coming into this and afte i finished it on insane difficulty i must say that im dissapointed. Very hard DD game. Mages are OP and bosses are insane but if you put up with it you achive victory feeling almost like after beating OnS for the first time in Dark souls. I loved the world, exploration is like the best part of this game there is so much stuff you can find its crazy. Dialogue could use some work its usually lackluster and feels empty in some major points. Yeah would i reccomend this game ? I WOULD but its hard one. Play on hard not insane and maybe you can keep your sanity. 4 Stars cause i had a lot of fun despite the bullshit this game throws at you.
Game is a lot of fun for point n click but it fails in delivering story closure. It fixes some plot holes made by first entry but in the end makes you question a lot. Main character is not as charming as the first one and can be kinda anoying. Voice acting is also bad (Czech voice acting) and can run some moments for you. I dont know how good is english one but i would recommend you play it in that. As a game it was solid experience. Puzzles were easier this time, no more cheap kills, autosaving and so on. I just wish story didnt turn out to be a big joke after chapter 4. :)
