DragonStrike

The first of its kind

The original dragon-flying sim. As a fan of Century: AoA, Lair, Drakan, etc. I can still get into this game despite its age...probably because we're about the same age... anyway, if you are into retro, can adapt to the super old graphics, RTFM for the control scheme, you will find an enjoyable and brilliant retro classic.

Warhammer: Chaosbane

Good Enough

If you're a Warhammer fan, you'll enjoy this one. The story is good and the graphics stand up just fine for an ARPG. The game play is a bit repetetive.

En Garde!

So much fun!

I really wish I hadn't waited so long to play En Guarde. It refreshingly simple and fun, just swordplay and a fun story. It plays like POP Sands of Time, and the devs captured the swashbuckler setting perfectly. The character design and art are fantastic as well. I have experienced one crash, and the game seems to make my fairly robust PC run pretty hard, for how simple the graphics and such are. Still, that hasn't gotten in the way of good fun.

Chernobylite

Fun and Engrossing

I wasn't sure I would enjoy this game much after playing the intro, but once the actually game began, I was quickly impressed. The gameplay loop is ingenious and gives the player a feeling of control and magement without making anything overwhelming or grindy. The graphics are still great in 2025. The story is interesting as well. The writing and voice acting are a little weird, like they used Google Translate instead of hiring someone to localize. Small issue. This game offers tons of fun and tense moments.

Starcom: Unknown Space

Great space game

I want this and Elite: Dangerous to have a baby. Each game has what the other is missing. We've got amazing exploration, awesome ship building, and wonderful RPG elements that keep you coming back. Plus, it just seems practical that you have a crew of more than 2-3 people. The combat and graphics are just enough to get the job done. If this game had come out for SNES/Genesis back in the olden days, I would have been more obsessed with this game than I am now. This game is fun enough to easily lose track of time.

Thief™ 3: Deadly Shadows

Great classic

It may be the second weakest of the sesries, but it is still a lot of fun. All the essential mechanics are there. Plus, the modding community has made some wonderful updates.

Battlestar Galactica Deadlock

Best TBS since XCom2

I've never enjoyed watching replays of my battles as much as I do with this game. It may seem a little intimidating at first, but after 2-3 battles, everything becomes highly intuitive. 40K Battlefleet Gothic is in desperate need of a title with this developer. More, more, more!

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada

Simple and fun 40k Space RTS

I actually enjoy this one more than the sequel, though I only play the single player campaign. This game is very approachable for more casual RTS fans. The graphics still look great in 2024. The story, sounds and voice acting are all great and creative an immersive experience. Question: in the grim darkness of the far future, why are all torpedos dumb??

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader

Solid WH40k Fun

Excellent writing really bring the setting alive. The turn based combat is fun as well. The graphics and on-screen execution of the combat are a bit dated and bland. The leveling up system is rather tedious. It was obviously designed by engineer-minded people.

Hard West 2

Perfect Sequel

This is an example a perfect game sequel. The first title enthralled me with the game mechanics, while entertaining me with an extremely well written storyline. Upon finishing the game, I wanted more. As soon as I saw the sequel was on sale, I bouth it for a little more than the $10 I usually spend on games. This series continues to impress on every aspect; gameplay, story, graphics. The poker-inspired special skills system is truly a work of programming art. As a programmer, this sort of creativity makes me want to work for this creative developer. Any fan of TBS games and/or the weird-west genre must play this game.
