Planescape: Torment

This is the best RPG ever. Period.

I am so excited to see this on GOG I am going to buy it and I already own the CD version. Yeah, I know. "Best RPG ever? Really? Right." As a ROLE-PLAYING GAME is really is. You play however you want. Be crazy. Be lawful. Be a nasty bastard. Be a goody-two-shoes. Be a thief, wizard and fighter, all with the same character. And the story will suck you in like no other. Lots of reading, but it's like playing a book. And reading is good -- when you talk with characters you can recover your own forgotten memories, gaining wisdom points to upgrade yourself. As the Nameless One, journey across the planes to find out who you are, where you came from and why you can't die. The revelation will not disappoint. The game has some of the best party members I can think of in any RPG. A succubus with no interest in sex. A demon thief-girl. A walking suit of armour. A robotic winged cube. A floating man who is constantly on fire. And a floating, lying skull that will not shut up. It's weird. It's mature. But if you liked the Witcher story and characters, you will like this too. So what are you waiting for? Buy it now, or pike off, berk.

Psychonauts

Funny and clever 3-D platformer

I picked this game up on a Steam sale and I'm sure glad I did. It's funny, the graphics are cute and the weirdness level is amusingly high. And for the obsessive collector in me, there's tons of different things to collect. Most of the levels are fun and can be solved with a bit of patience. But I have to say the last level really pissed me off and felt like an impossible and boring grind. I gave up. But up to that point I loved it. The themed levels were brilliant, from the Godzilla-style level to the Risk-style level to the rolling disco ball level, the game stayed true to its mechanics while adding a little twist each time to make it interesting. The story was fun, too, with great voice acting. Recommended, for sure, and maybe someday I'll finish that last level. My wife loved it too (this is the only game I think she's ever finished that I haven't!)

Giants: Citizen Kabuto

Lots of fun, but...

The humour is sometimes a bit forced. But the goofiness of the Meccs is great, and playing as Delphi was cool, jumping huge distances and ambushing people with a sword. The Kabuto campaign was fun for a while but for a giant monster, Kabuto takes damage pretty easily. It's certainly worth playing, and the open approach to completing missions makes it very replayable.
