Lords of the Realm: Royal Edition

oustanding game

You know there was a time when games had to rely on more than graphics and flash. I belive it was something called 'gameplay'. Yeah, that's the ticket! While far from perfect, this game kept me busy for hours, contstantly tinkering with each different region, adjusting this, tweaking that, all the while worried about the threat of invasions? Excellent game. Thanks GOG for bringing back a true classic.

Lords of Magic: Special Edition

disappointing!

Yes, I know: I had been eagerly awaiting this game's release. Either I really don't remember it right, or it was a blast of nostalgia, because the game is not as good as I think I remember. Firstly scrolling is a big issue: get near the edge of the screen and your view is gone! To make matters worse there's no mini-map to get your bearings. Also the game's graphics are dated: what might have looked good many years ago simply looks blotchy and difficult to discern what is a hero and what is a tree! It's too bad because I was really looking forward to this game, but given the wide assortment that GOG has to offer, there are far better alternatives. But, thanks GOG for bringing it back: I had forgotten all about this game!

Knights and Merchants

disappointing

This type of game is my favourite. I found this a bit disappointing in terms of what you can do. Perhaps I've not given it enough time, but there are better games on GOG than this one, in my estimation. It's definitely worth the price ($5.99, $9.99 . . .heck, what isn't?) but not one of my faves.
