It is hard to give a review of an incomplete game still in EA. As they keep changing. I have the long dark on Steam and it has some nice features but all of their focus has been on survival game play. All I can say is this...Kona does right what the Long Dark fails at. Good story, fun game play.both games look equally nice. I really enjoy the 70's Canadian environment and the protagonists narrative. Hopefully Q 1 2017 sees us with teh complete game.
This a good game with a beautiful story and music. The game play it self is fairly easy and the game is short but that is ok. Dragging it out with tedious grind and extra levels just to increase the play time would detract from the story. There are a few challenges involving boss fights dealing mostly with manipulating terrrain but they are not too complex. This is not an action game. I would say it's major set back would be it's controls. They are a little janky. The first half of the game I played with the keyboard. I found it a little frustrating and didnt play for several months then I bought a controller. It definitely plays better, but often the controls do not respond so well, but it does not ruin the game play. I would say this game is worth a play especially if you like stories like in the game Braid, Aquaria, or the movies The Fountain and Pan's Labyrinth. The game is a fairy tale. The graphics are not the best, but I still found them nice to look at. The end theme is very nice and consists of cello music. You might feel like 13 dollers is a bit much considering the length of the game but I have seen much worse games for more. Still I would wait for a sale of maybe 5 to 8 dollers. But if you dont mind spending the full price for a nice story...the developers do deserve it. Story 10/10 Music 10/10 Game play 7/10
