There isn't much to be said. Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a great atmospheric horror game that trades combat for adventure game puzzles (minus the moon logic), physics puzzles and stealth. It remains a classic in the genre to this day, despite its age. It was responsible for a trend of non combat horror games (that did overstay its welcome, though), and for a boom in Youtube Let's Plays - giving rise to prominent Youtubers that remain active to this game (your opinions on said Youtubers notwithstanding). Still, if you never played this game, you should try it out. It is cheap on sales, and still remain effective, It borrows from HP Lovecraft stories heavily (mostly from The Hound and Haunter of the Dark), but transforms them into a very memorable story.

As is widey known, DOOM 3 is quite different from its predecessors. It slows down the action in favour of atmosphere and (for its time) great visuals. To this day it remains the odd duck, but it is well worth your time. A lot of the horror is jumpscare based, but the game still builds an oprassive and (literally) dark atmosphere. As a recommendation - get the game running through the "Dhewm" source port for better compatibility with modern hardware / software, and fixed bugs.

Ashes is a wonderful total conversion that essentially offers you a full game along with additional expansions. The visuals are great, the OST is great, the atmosphere is lovely, and the gameplay is excellent. You cannot go wrong with this mod. Get it and enjoy!

The game features a lovely atmosphere and soundtrack. The backgrounds are also lovely. Some puzzles, however, fall into the adventure game logic trap, and the game at times pads time with "return later" moments, where you just burn time by walking between areas. Still, with a guide to hhelp you, the experience is memorable.

Game plays well, no stuttering. Then new episodes are fun. I wholehartedly recomment it!

Finally, a working "official" source port of DOOM1+2

The game's a very good throwback to early Build engine shooters. One star off goes for some mouse issues that I have encoutered when using the game's VSYNC.
