Quake II RTX

Fun, but not deep.

As the description suggests, this is only a playable tech demo of how Quake II graphics look with ray tracing. It's fun and impressive, but you only get to play 3 levels and that's it - don't expect anything like a full game, this is only a tech demo.

Quake Enhanced

Good Remaster, still fun

Not much more to say, the remaster worked flawlessly for me, no bugs and the game is still fun - like in the old boomer shooter days.

Rise of the Triad (2013)

Couldn't play it

Would love to play this, since I loved the original back in the 90s, but this is unplayable. Right at the start the player cam spins around and I can't stop it. Too buggy.

The Curse of Monkey Island™

As Good As Ever

The installation is a SummVM-presetup. Works flawlessly out of the box without bugs. One of the best Lucasarts games ever made. Best stlye, best humor, best riddles, not too easy, not too absurdly difficult. A must for anyone into point & click adventures and puzzle games.

The Saboteur™

Wenig beachteter Klassiker

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger

Guter Klassiker

Solider Shooter mit schöner Cel-Shading Grafik und glaubhaftem Western-Feeling. Originelles Gameplay, gute Responsivitat, keine Bugs.

Warcraft: Orcs and Humans

Weak then, weak now

Okay, so I'm giving this 3 stars, only because it laid the foundation for WC II, which was undoubtedly a masterpiece, but let's be honest: most of us have played WC II, but not WC I and for good reason: the controls and overall core gameplay loop are not a lot of fun. Why I bought this then? Well simply because I wanted to buy WC II and the bundle just happened to be on sale and cheaper than WC II alone at the time of purchase.

Jazz Jackrabbit Collection

Childhood memories gone awry

Once upon a time, when I was a fresh-faced 12-year-old, this game was my absolute obsession. Picture Sonic the Hedgehog, but with a snazzy arsenal of weaponry! Naturally, I had to relive my youth and embark on this nostalgic adventure. But about half way through the third map suddenly I was like "What on Earth am I even doing here?" Long story short, to someone in his 40, this game isn't as much fun as it is for a 12 year old. I was both stunned and devastated to realize that this once beloved game had become boring to me. Now, I don't want to rain on everyone's parade, but it appears I've outgrown this pixelated piece of my past. If you're not a die-hard 2D platformer enthusiast, you might find yourself in the same boat, questioning your life choices as you navigate through a world of flashy colors and anthropomorphic rabbits. But if you're the kind of gamer who's rig still contains an NES and a Master System II, then I think you'll still enjoy this one.

Soldier of Fortune: Platinum Edition

Generic bloodbath and blocky guts

I remembered this game as a clear 5, but after replaying it two decades later, I had to deduce 2 stars, here's the details: Copy-paste plot: If you're into recycled storylines, then this is your ultimate fantasy! As John Mullins, you're tasked with saving the world from terrorists. Groundbreaking, I know. It's like every other action game, but with even less originality! Gore galore: This game offers more blood and guts than a B-movie slasher flick! It's like the devs thought, "Why bother with a creative plot when you can just spray blood everywhere?" If you're into that sort of thing, then by all means, enjoy the bloodbath. If you adore the dismemberment mechanics in the Hitman series, then you'll simply love the body-damage system in Soldier of Fortune. The game's GHOUL engine makes the carnage all the more lifelike. Satisfying, if you're into that sort of thing. AI on vacation: The enemy AI in this game is laughably bad. They'll run straight into your line of fire, making it feel like you're playing a carnival shooting gallery. Amidst the chaos, it does occasionally surprise you with a challenging firefight or two. These moments can be quite exhilarating, especially when you're least expecting them. Vast array of boomsticks: The weapon selection is like a buffet of destruction! From submachine guns to the Slug Thrower (I still have no clue what it actually is), you'll have an arsenal to make even Rambo envious. Variety is the spice of life, after all! Unintentional comedy: The game's absurdity can actually be quite entertaining. So, grab some popcorn and enjoy the ridiculous AI, cheesy one-liners, and over-the-top gore. It's like an action movie so bad that it's actually funny. For those who played Soldier of Fortune back in the day, it offers a nostalgic journey to a simpler time in gaming. The game may not be a masterpiece, but it's an artifact of its era, and sometimes that's reason enough to revisit it.
