Really enjoyable RPG. It sits a bit uncomfortably between the older BioWare cRPG and the more modern, console-first ones (think Mass Effect), but it's definitely leaning more towards the second in gameplay and presentation. Small but quite dense levels that manage to evoque a huge world thanks to clever writing and a unique atmosphere. RPG gameplay is heavily stripped down, leaving only the essentials, but that means everything you encounter is hand-crafted, useful and thoughtful. Try doing every quest, enjoy your companions' company and don't spoil yourself.
I played it for the first time last month (2021) and I really enjoyed it even if it feels a bit dated (mostly graphics and controls). The game design was top notch, and so ahead of the curve that in some ways remains unparalleled even today. Make sure to explore every nook and cranny and quick save all the time! The soundtrack deserves a special mention - instantly iconic.
If you enjoyed the original Life is Strange for its characters and relationships, and you thought Chloe was an interesting, but kinda one-note character, you'll find a lot to love in Before the Storm. Deck Nine really captures what made the first one special and builds a great game around it.
Huge, beautiful world, with interesting lore, witty characters and lots of reactivity. Extremely recommended if you don't mind spending 70% of your time in combat, or even better, if you enjoy it. Currently playing it for a second time on co-op and it remains very enjoyable.
