Some improvement in graphics, no fog, as others mentioned, but the difficulty setting seems broken and set to hard or worse. Less ammo and map-changes, minor but iconic to the original game: sadly miss the hidden keys on lofts that were not difficult that the original included. Polished but unbalanced, and with the infamous checkpoint save system made for too hard a ride. I reinstalled the original after 20 years, so thanks to GOG for only the reminder. Lol. 3 stars otherwise, and maybe the difficulty is a glitch others do not mind or will not effect their system. Buy only on sale too, the price is too high even with no problem.
I enjoy a mix of arcade and strategy, and more shooting than trading or building, but there are aspects of Terran War Pack I like; and for 'Conflict' mods are still plentiful. It is in the tradition of previous games in the series, better than 'Reunion'; and with a learning curve trading and building ships and stations, I'm yet enjoying it very much: THANKS GOG! I am playing on an HP SFF/Intel i5, Windows 10, with 16 GB RAM and a standard Nvidia GT710 graphics card, and everything also runs fine.
Well, I find 'X-Rebirth' to be my favorite in the series and haven't played 'X4-Foundations' or higher. I recommend for playing especially 'X-Rebirth' (especially for 'newbies'). I read another here does not like the 'highway' much in Rebirth, though, to which I also agree; but a small price to pay for the rest of the experience. And the docks may be a bit repetitious, but so were those with no characters in the previous series, these do also have characters in Rebirth. And for the price is a bargain: I appreciate the sales here, and am so glad I don't have to travel for miles or keep putting coins in a machine these days: THANKS GOG! Also, my pc is an HP SFF/Intel i5, Windows 10, with 16 GB RAM and a standard Nvidia GT710 graphics card, and everything runs fine.
My only complaint with 'Rise Of The Triad 2013' was some clipping. Also, I liked the original because it was fun and ... ORIGINAL. Still nobody has done one quite the same. Finally, one thing I did not like about the original is it was butt-ugly pink and pixellated; I often could not see a damn thing because of the awful artwork and engine -- kind of why Doom buried it I think. And it was worse this way than Wolfenstein 3D (that I still enjoy in it's original version), graphicially speaking. But the gameplay was fun: even frustrated I would find myself continuing and making progress, like a good game should be. So far, I am done with the 1st episode and have only appreciation for the creators efforts and it is a fine addition to my library. Thanks GOG.
Okay, I'm not overly educated, jaded, a genius, or professional gamer; but some one who wrote here the game is 'BioHalfMassEffectLifeShock', in the positive sense -- HEY! THIS must be why I LOVE this game that IS a new example of all of those, with even brighter shades of modern Doom series thrown in. Frankly, I also get tired of death dark dangerous games -- dangerous is fine; kill the monsters to win the day but celebrate Life - there is more sympathy, humor and humanity to this title than usual for an fps. And it is not overdone; is just right, I think, for people who like to PLAY and to get through to the END of the game they PAID for. I also would still like to see a sequel of the original 'Prey', but I believe this game is a great excuse that they did not make that other one yet. I find it to be INSPIRED. Finally, for those who found it 'lazy', I found it to have just enough strategy and thought involved -- as I love strategy games in theory, I only can't play them because of their complexity. This smart fps does it for me; I find this an intelligent game that all CAN play. It also has high replay value; am now on my second round, finding things I missed the first time, still enjoying it. I also find the enemies and action challenging, yet not ridiculous. FIVE STARS: THANK You, God! Uhhh, GOG I mean. ;-)
