Nox™

Great RPG - Use OpenNox

This is an old game from the early 00s that is still good today. It is along the lines of Diablo with some Baldur's Gate thrown in. Lots of Dungeon crawling with buying/selling supplies. There is plenty of interaction with NPCs and interactive items throughout. Game play takes a bit getting used to, but the game developer made the first chapter a tutorial without making it seem silly or boring. Excellent game overall! As for getting the game to run on Windows 10/11: Get OpenNox (not much effort to search for it on Google) and run that patch. You can then get everything to run smoothly on 2021 systems while fixing bugs that were still in the GOG version. The only thing you cannot get to work is the Intro movie, but you can watch that by loading the game using the regular .exe file. To run the GOG version as is (or to watch the Intro movie), you need to locate the Nox.exe file and check Compatibility Mode - Windows 98/ME to get it to load. Otherwise, you get the headache inducing flash of the Nox title screen like some other reviewers mentioned. I recommend doing this first thing to watch that Intro movie so you know how your character got to the very beginning of the game. I was confused on what the story was about at first since I didn't know the movie was skipped in OpenNox.
