Reus

A great challenge

I have read a few of the reviews here and to complain about such things as "I have to remember things" is the most inane thing I have ever read in a game review, also to say it is "S**t and boring" without a full explanation as to why is hardly a game review. Anyway my experience is very different, I have found the game challenging even at the 30 minute mission stages and I have enjoyed learning the combinations and what goes best with what while trying to complete the achievements for the unlocks. Anyone that says its repetitive is describing most games that cover this sort of content, strategy games, RPG's are all the same follow the same recipe no matter what, its the challenge that keeps us coming back for more. I like the graphic style and the music suits the game perfectly, I agree this isn't exactly a god game as such but none the less if you like god games then you will still enjoy Reus.

Unmechanical: Extended

Great unique puzzle game

This is a good puzzle game with some unique puzzles to solve, the music is excellent and so is the atmosphere. The mechanics of the game are easy to understand and you will soon get the hang of it. The reason I have only given 4 stars is that the game is far too short, I found my self saying out loud "Huh is that it" as the credits came up. Best to buy the game as part of a bundle or when its part of a weekend deal.

SimCity™ 2000 Special Edition

Unconstructive moaning about DosBox

I have seen a couple of people make constructive comments about the game being the dos version which is fine but moaning unconstructively about it being dos and marking the game down rather than giving it a proper rating is quite pathetic to be honest.

RollerCoaster Tycoon® 3: Complete Edition

Not as good as RCT 1 & 2

I have this game on cd and it is a good game there is no doubt about it, the graphics are pretty good for the time and the game play is pretty much the same as the previous tiltles in the series. But for me there is somthing very important missing, it just does not have the same feel or atmosphere that I get from RCT 1 & 2, I cant explain this in real terms its just how I feel. With the previous titles I really wanted to complete all the scenarios, I experienced a real buzz on completion of each of them, but with RCT3 that just wasnt there. If your a big fan of the previous games then you might want to purchase it but for me its too pricey for what you are getting and that is not something I say very often on gog.com.

Stronghold Crusader HD

My favourite RTS of all time!

I have played many RTS games in my time and there are lots of good ones out there however Stronghold Crusader is the games I keep coming back to. I bought the game on release having played the original and loved it straight away, as other reviewers have stated it plays much better than the original with no major bugs. The game play is simple, however strategy for each of the crusader maps isnt always obvious and obtaining the resources and the base of your economy (to make gold) can take a while to establish. The sheer number of units available and how well the game played back in the day on a low end machine without slowing is amazing. The AI is pretty good and the various enemy charcters live up to there abilities and at the same to can be very amusing especially The Pig and The Snake who never fail to make me laugh when they realise they have lost. The harder AI oppenents can put up a good fight but I think its fair to say when you have played the game alot you can match them, having said that the game is still entertaining. I still play this game today having the original CD version and amazingly it plays on Windows 7 with no problems, I play using a third party piece of software to be able to play in windowed mode as the top resolution is 1024x768 as the gfx look a little stretched on todays high res widescreen monitors, but Im assuming the guys at GOG are on top of this as they usually are. A great RTS and a must buy from GOG, if you are an RTS fan you wont regret it.
