Capitalism Plus

Essential for tinkerers.

This game is a total economic sandbox. All aspects of capitalism, from production, importing, exporting, marketing, share investing, etc are present. Just about the only thing I think the game lacks is a way to contract with Chinese factories! Highly recommended.

Empire Earth Gold Edition

"Epic" defined.

This game is a dear favorite of mine, in part because I am a student of historical anthropology and warfare. As such, this game might as well have been made for me! Empire Earth is a strategy game somewhere between Warcraft and Civilization in structure, where you harvest resources (including hunting/gathering!) and attempt to build a civilization. The point of the game is either to win militarily or by constructing a set amount (typically 3) of "wonders" such as the library of Alexandria. What makes EE so epic in scope is the fact that you are constantly progressing through various "epochs" of development...so you might start with cavemen, and end with Napoleonic soldiers, or futuristic cyber men! This aspect of the game, particularly if you play through multiple epochs in one game, really illustrates the depth of the engine. The nuances of the game drastically change as you progress, as new technologies make older strategies and defenses obsolete. The first time I had to face aircraft was...interesting to say the least. Empire Earth is one of my favorite strategy titles of all time, and it sits right up top with Civilization and Total War in my opinion.

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

Stunning

I have only played the first hour or so of this game, but I can unequivocally state that The Witcher is a modern classic. It is GOG's fan-friendly philosophies to content delivery. Incredible graphics, wonderful sound, amazing story. Well worth the price at $20 even.

Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition

Worth exploring

This game is one that I always wanted to play as a child. I bought it on GOG during a sale, and found it incredibly frustrating. The controls tend to be non-responsive, the character you control sluggish, and you will die. A lot. I can't really recommend this title to anyone but the most curious.

Praetorians

Perfect Roman Strategy game.

Many other reviews here will tell you about the anti-aliasing, the pixel shading, the depth ratio, etc. I am going to tell you just one thing: The soldiers in your Phalanxes will actually turn 90/180 degrees before executing a turn order. Buy this game.

Trine Enchanted Edition

Meh.

This game is not really worth $10 due to competitors offering it for far far less. Not a bad game, with some clunky mouse issues when aiming, but I would recommend waiting for a Steam sale at $3 or less.
