Ys I & II Chronicles+

Noooooope

Nope, nope, nope nope nope. Screw this game, screw everyone who made it, and especially screw whoever thought the insane level of cryptic secrets required for progression was a good idea. Okay, now that I got that out of my system, I should point out that I don't hate this game at it's core. The basic gameplay and story are fun, though the grind can get tedious at times, the soundtrack is amazing for rock n roll fans, and the visuals are colorful and clear. A good 3.5-4/5...buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut I cannot excuse the outright ludicrous amounts of cryptic nonsense that this game has. No direction, no hints as to what to do next, maze like dungeons that are a bore to navigate due to their complexity mixed with how samey the rooms look, and a few cases of you need to do this in this specific order for some contrived and unknown reason or we won't show you how to proceed moments. I'm fairly certain that it was done so to sell guide books when the original version released, cause if not, either the devs thought players are psychic, or they expected them to just run around for hours and hours, trying to piece together what fragment of info they could to figure out what to do, or at least find the next piece of the puzzle that is trying to figure out where to go and what to do next. It's basically the JRPG equivalent of the old adventure games.

Not for me

I like adventure games, I like Sam and Max, but this season didn't do it for me. Mainly because of the Puzzles. Some people say the puzzles are easy, but for me, they seem nigh impossible to conceive. Some make no logical sense, and are just based on the devs own arbitrary logic, leading to having to just interact with everything in every way to find the answer(or look at a walkthrough). Other times it's glitches or bugs that tell you that you can't do something, then I go to a walkthrough to see what I have to do, and it was the thing it said I couldn't do the first time, so I do it again, and it works. The story doesn't really keep me invested as it lacks the same engrossing plot of the first season, and the comedy is lackluster to me. Overall not enjoyable.
