It does start more solidly than it ends, but it's an overall excellent gaming experince if you're okay with the aesthetic.
I'm an old-school gamer, so the aesthetic scratched all the right itches for me. Excellent gameplay loop, open world that rewards exploration, no shortage of things to do, and wonderful character interactions. A must-buy for anyone looking for an excellent action-RPG experience. This is what Ultima 8 should have been if it had been alotted enough time in the oven.
Great gameplay and characters with less save-scumming and overall improvements over its predecessor. An easy recommendation for anyone who likes RPGs.
This game doesn't pull any punches, but it's satisfying like no other. If you're looking for a challenging RPG with a world inline any other, look no further. Combat is a last resort and has real consequences!
This game is still one of the more popular requests when I go to LAN parties. The combination of simple gameplay mechanics and a wide variety of maps, weapons, and vehicles means that each time we play, it is a new game. The AI is still a challenge after all these years and the sheer potential that this game has for modification means it can be as fresh as you want to make it. Be sure to search around for all of the official map packs and patches as there was quite the development community surrounding this game when it was first released.
