While it has not aged as well as one would like, there is a ton of UNIQUE fun to be had that you won't get from the Diablo franchise. It really all comes down to the little things, like mood, character movement, enemy patterns, presentation of story and town, etc etc. Even if you only spend 10 hours with it, it is time well spent in a cosy ARPG blanket.
I'll admit, Battle Brothers is just too damn hard for me, even though I love it. This game on medium is a lot more manageable and gets right to the point, you get to gear up and upgrade smoothly with no time wasted. If you need the tactical itch scratched, then this will do real nice. I cannot wait for this to be out of early access and I am thinking about buying it on here (own on Steam) just to support the developers further. I hope for better UI and sounds for full-release, but I understand that is not every devs strong suit or within their budget.
Yes it has some problems with repetition, but it is for people who like short cycles of play with some board-gamey resource management and decision making. After playing 28 hours I can say it is quite unique and engrossing. There is not another rogue-like like it, it is stand-out in the way it goes afer Dungeon Crawling, Bioshocking, and board-gamey economy management. BUT PLEASE, play it on HARD, if you try it on Normal you are in for a snooze-fest.
