The game is using Cryengine. Why don't more games use Cryengine these days? Because it's garbage. Even crooks who are developing Start Citizen had to rewrite most of Cryengine after they licensed it, that speaks volumes. Wolcen is another recent game using Cryengine is also full of bugs and terrible performance. I still haven't played this game properly because I can't get decent performance on a 10900K. There is a good game somewhere underneath, maybe after 3-4 new CPU generations it will run properly.
At one point the game has corrupted my save file after a crash, forutnately I was able to pull an older save from the GoG cloud because I didn't quit the game as soon as I found out that the save was corrupted and thus prevented the corrupted file from being synced to the cloud. If you don't want to rage after losing 15 hours of progress you might want to find your save files and make a copy from time to time because if a corrupted save file makes it to the cloud you are screwed. How can developers be so incompetent to fail at something so basic as save file validation in the year 2020?
The plot is very silly to the point of ridiculousness, like something out of a bad Start Trek episode. At least the way it portrays a complete failure and devolution of a matriarchial society is hilarious. Fortunately the plot is not the selling point of this game. This really is a Monster Hunter game where you hunt robot dinosaurs and it is really fun to tear them apart with different weapons. The main character is made to look butch and ugly on purpose because having beautiful wamen in games is sexist now, at least the design is somewhat original and not a complete rip-off. The game even found my Steam save and accepted them as it's own.
Good game, lazy GoG version. How hard is it to get GoG achievements working? Other Batman games have them, crappy indie games for $1 have them, what's your excuse? I would spend more money on GoG if all games that have achievements and cloud saves on Steam would have them on GoG too.
