I didn't play this game before so I there is no nostalgia and bonus stars from me. The plot is very interesting. The Nazis threaten the world from the moon and Rocket Ranger has to stop them. To do that he has to find rocket parts and get enough fuel to build a rocket and fly to the moon to stop them. The game is a mix of a strategy and a few minigames. On the world map you can send secred agents to countries to spy them out and report what happens there or if there is a part of the rocket hidden. On the home base you can transfer fuel in your rocket pack bulid the moon rocket or start for a mission. On the mission map you have to load a specific amount of fuel in the rocket of your rocket pack. The amount depends on from which country you want to fly to which other country. The exact amount of fuel you need, you have to read on the code wheel. And this is the point where it gets hard. The minigames. It starts with the launch sequence. You have to press the fire button with every step Rocket Ranger makes and keep the rhythm until you hear a beep signal. Then you have to pull up. I tried it a lot of times but always failed. After 3 fails Rocket Ranger starts automatically but you loose a few months. I don't really know what I'm doing wrong. I'm playing an instrument and can keep a rhythm but here I always fail. I don't know if you also need luck or something is wrong with the game ... An other minigame is where you fly Rockt Ranger in an semi 3D view and have to shoot down enemies. There it is very hard to guess where the gun is pointing because there are noc crosshairs and the controls with keyboard are not the best. Sadly there is no controler support. The German version has no german textes. The textes are also english. It has an alternative story, but this is only an excuse for that in Germany it is not allowed to show nazi propaganda in games. The english version shows Hitler and swastikas. Fortunately GOG offers both versions.

In my opinion this game is a misunderstood gem mostly because in the description the word "point&click adventure' is mentioned and Because of that a lot of people expected something different like searching every pixel for stuff, combining it in the inventory and so on. But this game isn't a classical point&click adventure. I'd rather compare it with Faster Than Light, where the focus is on the crew menagement and makin decisions. This game is played turnbased. So you first make a decision and then it's the enemys turn. You can only make one action per turn so you have to choose wisely. The game is hard as nails and making one wrong decision can lead to a game over, especially when you are playing the game in normal mode. In easy mode you will also die often but not as offen as in normal mode. So you have to play one situation over and over until you find the right balance between several possible decisions. This is what the game is all about. As you can read on the developers homepage it was also their intention to make a hard game where you'll loose offen.
