Death Road to Canada

This game is just fun

I purchased this last night and played 3 games so far. Really short games, packed with fun stuff. Really simple controls and mechanics, you can hit stuff, pick up stuff, throw stuff and swap between 3 active weapons. The game is challenging but not right off the bat, it has a very nice difficulty progression, so you will have some time to master it before it gets too hard. The music is cheerful and it's a nice addition to the goofy style of the sprites. Combat is quite rudimentary, you can hit with melee weapons and shoot stuff. The zombies explode and lose parts in a very detailed way when hit. So you can see them spit a bunch of teeth when you hit them with a golf club, or their guts which is really nice. The travelling parts are as fun as the zombie-skull-crushing parts, you watch as your characters interact with each other in different ways and there are a lot of varied events that can happen, like finding other survivors, dogs, cars, bandits and hordes of zombies. Your characters personalities and traits will show up during these events, in different interactions, sometimes they will argue or have different ideas. You'll end up getting attached to your characters since they are so distinct. Things that would make the game better: - 4 player support (the developer promises to bring this on a future update) - A post-travel log, I wish my adventures weren't so ephemeral, I wish I could save up stories of the travels, or at least a hall of fame with my best survivors, their traits and perhaps how they died. My verdict: A very fun roguelike game to play both with friends or solo with tons of content and replay value. Recommended for people with a sense of humour which like absurdity and zombie movies that don't take themselves too serious.

Trine Enchanted Edition

A beautiful tale

Before playing Trine, imagine you're a kid again. Imagine you're opening your first fairy tale book full of magical adventures. Trine is just that, a beautifully crafted fairy tale with relatively simple puzzles, and a not too challenging difficulty (that is if you play it on normal difficulty). Obviously this is a must buy if you're purchasing this for a kid, but also a great title to play it yourself or with friends. In this game you control 3 characters, a wizard, a thief and a warrior. The three of them have very distinct personalities, and abilities. The wizard can conjure objects like boxes and platforms that aid you in your quest, the thief is nimble has a grappling hook and a bow that helps her take out enemies from afar, the warrior is a jolly fellow which can crush enemies with his sword and protect himself with a shield. The puzzles are really simple, and some of them have been crafted with the idea that you can complete them with any of your characters. If you are a fan of intricate solutions, or having to break your head around puzzles, this game will disappoint you in that regard. The platforming experience is quite solid and overall enjoyable. Graphically this game is very beautiful, the game atmosphere makes you feel like you've stepped into a fairy tale. Creepy castles and dungeons, mysterious forests, dark mines, every environment has been carefully crafted. The graphical effects like bloom, water reflection make for an overall gorgeous landscape, and the backgrounds are quite good. I didn't had the chance to play it with friends, but the game has built in co-op, which I imagine must be quite fun. The game is a tad short, nevertheless it's truly a beautiful and memorable game.

Wings of Prey: Special Edition

An great flying experience.

I bought this game not from here and boy how ripped off I felt. Let me start for the best part from buying it from here: It has No DRM. The DRM in this game was one of the ugliest I've seen, you were able to install the game only 3 times then ask for permission to keep installing the game (WTF!). So buy it from here. This game is gorgeous, from the incredible soundtrack by Jeremy Soule (Morrowind, Skyrim), to the beautifully detailed aircraft sounds. The immersion provided by the game is astonishing, you'll see the moisture covering your windshield when you pass through a cloud, you'll feel the shock as enemy hits your aircraft, and you'll feel the adrenaline of dogfights like you never did. Flying feels realistic and intense. The bad part: The campaigns are not very well designed, and some missions are really unforgiving for new players, AI seems unbalanced. The ugly part: if you compare this game to it's older entry IL-2 Sturmovik 1946, you'll feel dissapointed in the lack of variety of planes, and mission editing options. This game feels like an arcade-ish approach compared to the previous entry.
