Stargunner

A Golden Oldie

Stargunner is a wonderful little side-scrolling shooter from the golden age of PC gaming. To me, it's one of the uncrowned kings of the scrolling shooter genre, right up there with Tyrian 2000 and Raptor: Call of the Shadows. Be warned though, Stargunner is hard as nails! I have fond memories of getting blown to pieces dozens of times, replaying the demo over and over as kid. However this isn't just nostalgia speaking. I aquired a copy of the full version a few years ago and it was just as enjoyable as ever. It's got everything from the recipe of scrolling-shooter-success: - Evergreen, colourful graphics - Great sound effects and music - Item shop where you can upgrade your ship with the money you earned - Plenty of action - Satisfying boss battles This is a genre that's sadly overlooked nowadays eventhough it produced some of the most entertaining games in history. If you're a 90s gamer and somehow missed Stargunner, grab it now and relive those golden days! If you're completely new to these kind of games, then grab Tyrian 2000 first (my all-time favourite), follow it up with Raptor: Call of the Shadows and if you feel ready for more challenge, get Stargunner. You won't be disappointed. :)
