I bought the game in a bundle for 1€, which i think is a fair price, given that it's almost a "freemium" type of game. While the base game is worth it in a vacuum (no pun intended) and offers enough to be a stand alone game, it's blatantly obvious that the entire game was created around the business model of milking the fans by adding more and more DLCs. Theoretically this wouldn't be that much of a problem, if the content of the DLCs wouldn't obviously be things that all could have been in the game from the beginning and the prices wouldn't be so insanely high. Seriously 4€ ON SALE for nothing more than a Species Pack is almost mobile game pricing. Overall actually not a bad game, but a business model i absolutely don't want to support.
It's a really nice and relaxing game, but the title isn't exaggerating with the "short" part. The game is about 2-3 hours long if you help every single NPC and really take your time exploring every last bit of the island. Also the soundtrack is really nice.
Full disclosure: i bought the game on steam and refunded it. As other people have stated, it's a fairly decent RPG game, but not really a worthy successor of Baldur's Gate. However it absolutely shows that it's an early access game, for which the 60€ asking price is an absolute joke. Throwing a game clearly miles away from being finished onto the market for a price higher than most AAA titles are charging, is a practice nobody should ever support. The point of early access is to make the game available early for fans at a significantly lower price, since they are buying an unfinished product, but want to support it. Wait for the full release, what do you have to lose?
If you like RPGs you are almost guaranteed to have an amazing time with this game. It's also one of the few games that doesn't feel like it's open world just for the sake of being open world. Additionally the game also looks stunningly beautiful.
A dark fantasy RPG that is based on the formula of classics like Baldur's Gate. The graphics still hold up pretty well and if you get lost in the game's complexity you can easily put 100+ hours into it. The Ultimate Edition on GOG is DRM free, doesn't need Origin and does include the full content, If you want to get the game, get it here!
