Disappointed with Devs

I just figure this game is not going to get the latest DLC even though it gets the latest updates. It isn't bad enough most mods are made for Steam, now for some unknown reason they can't give GOG players a small file, neither they can simply incorporate the DLC to the "ultimate edition". So you either buy this on Steam, or you're stuck with a game without Minor Factions. GOG users are thus treated as second class citizens! I'm glad I didn't know the game back in the day, I'm sad I know the game now because I won't buy it anymore (actually, I'm afraid to buy any Stardock game now, and I'm really into 4x now so I'd love to have Galactic Civilizations 3...). This is all so sad it makes me mad!

Gabriel Knight 2: The Beast Within

Best adventure game ever

Great story, good acting overall (and I mean ACTING, not voice overs, real acting with real actors), great music, interesting characters... It's a shame we don't have many more games like this nowadays.

Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers

My childhood

Still to this day the second best Adventure Game ever, second only to the sequel, The Beast Within.

Unforgiving

The game is a solid platformer. Graphics, soundtrack and sounds overall are soberb, gameplay is really smooth and adictive. So, why not 5 stars? This thing is not simply hard, it's so, so, so unforgiving! If you're more of a casual player like me, you'll be wondering why, why, why there are no checkpoints? If you only have one hour or two to play a game each day, this kind of stuff matters! Also, some items are way better than others to the point the feature becomes a nuisance. For instance, the Smoking Bomb is so better than the others that I could'nt help but wanting there was a second slot for the other charms. Anyway, I do recommend the game and, even though I'm complaining that the game is too hard, I'm over many, many hours and more than 100% of the game completed (meaning I've got to the end and kept playing, beating things on Expert). It's just I wish I could play this game and something else, but if you want to get to the end you may have to prioritize... Sometimes I feel I have no more fingers, but now I know that, although unlikely, beating the Devil in his Cassino is possible...

Since my last review has been deleted...

I'll say it again: if you like politics out of your games, this is NOT the game for you. If you want a game that tells a good story just like Gabriel Knight, well, this game is NOT for you. If you're looking for intelligent puzzles, then this game definitely is NOT for you. That's it. I only posted this because that's something I'd want someone to tell me before I buy a game. I have 250 games here on GOG and this doesn't seem to break any rule, so I will happily buy my games elsewhere if my honest reviews keep being deleted.
