Nightmare Reaper

fun boom shoot rogue like

fun in bursts, jump in, jump out, though the only downside is the weird in between hospital sequences. makes it confusing lol but im also just dumb

Cyber Shadow

controls ruin this game

Especially by the end, the controls are insane. Why the hell did they decide on fixed controls, and you tap a direction to parry?? That makes zero sense, doesnt work in practice, and sprinting is so random its infuriating. Double tap or LB to sprint, ok fine. Except it should just be if IM HOLDING LB I SPRINT. IF NOT I DONT. No, of course not. Just randomly sprint depending on if you stop for a single frame or not, i guess? This game could have been The Messenger big. But the controls completely ruin the experience. I always feel like I am just suggesting what to do. It sucks even more as I love the visuals and premise, the actual powerups and everything, but the controls... the decision they made, from not allowing customization (they use like 4 buttons, they have both triggers free and a ton of others) Man this sucks. Everygthing else is honestly great. I hope to god they try this basically entire game again with totally reworked system for the controls. I even tried using a wired controller as maybe it was introducing weird latency issues (some games in the past have had that) still just doesn't do what I tell it to the way many other simlar games do. I play tons of Indies, Vengful Guardian Moonrider and Messenger were some of my fav ninja retro games lately, great controls, smooth and fluid and very tight. This becomes more and more finnicky as time goes on. Why, dear god why is there not just a damn parry button? Blows my mind entirely. Could still make it you have to hit the energy ball after, but making it a directional button... with perfect timing, if placement is off by a pixel i guess it just doesn't work. I think, still havent figured it out. Here's to hoping a Cyber Shadow 2 is made, and they use an engine with better controls, allow customization/keybinds, and keep all the rest really.

HROT

great boom shoot, unique

lot of fun, wild ideas and art, cohesive design, brown, but not in a 7th gen kinda way lol

Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition

Much better than DOSbox or source ports

I havent had the best experience with other source ports previously, and outside throwing it up on my VGA CRT (and even then, id rather have this) this is the best way to play. I loved the shareware as a kid (we never had brand new top of the line PCs so I was always a couple years behind, and mostly playing shareware lol) So this is perfect, similar to other modern remasters of DOS classics. Thanks GOG and Kex and Nigtdive and all the other re-release/remaster/remake wizards out there. Including source port guys cuz sometiems i use both (Build games come to mind, id games etc)

Quake Enhanced

great re release

There are many source ports of Quake 1, my fav of the series personally, but this KEX based version is great. Well done animation interpolation and the new levels are incredible, even if a couple are a little hard to navigate. They look amazing, are fun and unique etc. Q1 > Q2 frfr :)

Timespinner

One of the best metroidvanias

Takes a ton of inspo from Castlevania in particular, visually in some spots, mechanically etc. But with great art in most places (not the biggest fan of the character portraits, but the in game pixel art is fantastic) inventive enemies and bosses are fun, some are unique. Story is fun as far as time travel goes. Story reminds me of Square games, Chrono series obviosuly, some FF too. It's older now but 100% worth it even today!

Dread Templar

great boom shoot

like Quake with crazier weapons and an upgrade/customization with quite a few enemy types etc.

Street Racing Syndicate

Fun street racing game

You can get "real life" hot asian girlfriends that will dance on video for you. 10/10 wouldn't change a thing. (Gets more fun once you upgrade your car parts, like suspension/brakes/tires, let alone power. Give it some time and upgrades and memorize controller input that coresponds to on screen keyboard prompts)

Panzer Dragoon: Remake

Please do Zwei. Or hell, even Saga

The sequel is just so much better as a game imo, and I would pay more for it as DLC in the same engine or something. More PC options would always be good of course, and Saga would be the obvious go to given how insanely expensive and iffy to emulate it is, but I have heardr the source code is lost to time, so it'd have to be rebuilt or de-compiled. Oh lord can you imagine? lol Anyway, this is great for a sale price, but it would be an amazing package if it included Zwei. Lemme pay you more Sega/MegaPixel/Forever Entertainment!

Gauntlet™ Slayer Edition

Not as bad as people say, 3.5 if I could

I really enjoy this game, especially with local MP, which I have had luck with. That said, it's no Dark Legacy or Gauntlet 4, both of which are more fun, arcade experiences at least, but as far as a game on it's own, this is a fun action/dungeon crawler with some bland environments. If you go in not really thinking of it as a Gauntlet game you may have an even better experience, but for 5-10 bucks, it's really quite solid.
