Star Trek™: Judgment Rites

Engage!

Captain's log, stardate 41153.7. We were halfway through the crab nebula when the nostalgia struck us. This is a great game. It is one of my favorite point-and-click adventures of all time. The puzzles are interesting and they actually make sense, the story is not brilliant but solid, the graphics are very well done. And it has the original voices! But what I like best about the game is that you'll get rewarded for a non-violent and humane approach. After each mission you'll get a rating from Starfleet with 100% for the best possible solution. This is true to the spirit of Star Trek and that's just great. Warp ten! Engage!

The Legend of Kyrandia: Malcolm's Revenge (Book Three)

You are all wrong!

This game is awesome. Yes, it is not as pretty to look at as the other ones. This pre-rendered 3D graphics... yuck! Yes, the puzzle in the middle of the game stinks. But you know what makes this game so awesome? It's Malcolm. He is the bad guy with a golden heart, a mischief maker with an overweight bad conscience. I love this game just for him. It gives the whole series another twist. Now you know, that Kallak is a dick, Brandon is a dimwitted dope and that Malcolm is the true hero. Great humor!

Thunderscape

A kinda furry little game

Well, it's true. Thunderscape isn't a great game. It's pretty average, actually. But there are some things that set it apart from other titles of that era. First of all there is the 3D perspective. I'm not a fan of 3D at all and it doesn't help that it is one of the first 3D rpgs and yes, it looks like crap. But much of the rest is carried out quite good. The character system is quite detailed for the time, the 2D graphics are not bad, the battle system is turn based and for me, that's allways a plus, the voice acting is mostly well done - something you didn't heat that often back then - the world blends fantasy and steam punk together. It's actually the first steam punk rpg I remember. But for me, the most important thing is this: it had Ferrans. Yes, those furry humanoids with animal heads. It doesn't do much for the gameplay though but it was awesome non the less. As a kid I liked the game just for the Ferrans and I still do. So if you ever wanted to create a party containing a cheeta girl, a rhino warrior, a raven ranger, a wolf wizard oder some kind of frog thing, this is your chance.
