With the release of this game came a load of bugs (yes, even if you don't buy it, but you own BG:EE and/Or BG:EE 2, they're bugged too now thanks to the update, and the mulitpkayer is broken, which made me very sad since I bought it to play with husband and friends and it worked fine untile update.) My advice : wait at least that they fix their mess without buying SoDS or even BG:EE/BG:EE 2 Also, the company doesn't seem to answer support mails.
I actually never played another ultima game, so I can't comment about how faithful it is to the previous games, but to me Ultima IX is great fun, with nice immersive setting, rich content and awesome musics.
