With Crimes and Punishments and the Silver Earring is The Devils Daughter on of my favorite Sherlock Holmes Titles. I really like the simplicity and the focus on the story in these three games. The other ones are good as well, but they have a lot of puzzles, that in my opinion not fit the story quite right. The Devils Daughter has a bit more action in it than Crimes and Punishment, but this is not a problem at all, because they are very well integrated in the story. And like a lot of People here I hope that GOG will add "Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments" someday ;)
The 7th Guest is one of the best Adventure Point-and-Click Games ever. You know back in the days when they had two pixel soldiers running through a desert with worms or the "3D"-Environments only had a 32x32 texture to mark where the player is not allowed to go. Well ... And then there was the '7th Guest', with its hyperrealistic Environment and Animations. Allowing the player to crawl through a ghostly mansion and unravel the mysteries of the old Toymaker Henry Stauf. This Game is cult. Every adventure-lover should have played it at least once. The Anniversary Edition offers a lot of extra Stuff, there are multiple Languages available with or without captioning. From the gamescreen You have direct access to the map (which is a very good improvement) and you can speed up animations, which is very useful in some puzzles ;) So long story short, this game is marvelous and still today it makes fun to play.
This is one of the best Crime-Thriller Games I've played. It has great Mechanics and a lot of unraveld mysteries. Nothing is like it seems to be and no one will help you to solve what happend back there. You are totally on your own and it is wonderful. I really enjoy this game and hope, that the developers will keep up their wonderful work. The only bad thing is now that ... I want a new case ;D
The game looks brilliant, it has a very unique Artstyle and the animations are very detailed. The music is as amazing as the artstyle of the game. Also this game is very well programmed. You do not have the feeling that this game is 'glitchy' or something else. So why only four stars? I can not give the game the five stars it deserves because of the difficult-level. This game is very, very, very hard. Casual Players or Players who are looking for an relaxed evening with friends will be disappointed about the game. Sure there is a simple mode in every Fight, but it do not give you the contracts you need to finish the game. This is the reason why I can't give the game five stars. It is a good game but too hard for casual players like me ;)
