The game have been patched all the way to hell for the past years. I played this since it came out, and since then I upgraded my PC to a much much higher end system. Decided to play it again lately, and let me tell you, with all the "optimizations" they did since - it ran smoother on my now potato level old PC then it does not with the same graphics options on my new one. And if that wasn't bad enough, the combat gotten a lot more clunky and almost unbearable, because what .. "balancing" of some sort on the DEV's part? All weapons, melee and ranged have been nerfed hard. Why?? This isn't some MMO?? Don't waste your money on this garbage.
Don't waste your time and money on this half baked release. Good games but an awful release. - Dungeon Siege 2 doesn't come with pretty much an essential DLC that continues the cliffhanger story ending of the DS2. - Multiplayer completely disabled. Now, I can understand the online play due to servers no longer around .. but why on earth disable LAN??
Great game overall, but unfortunately experiencing the story and companion development and their stories/conversations made absolutely awful with the horrid co-op system and the "listen in" mechanic. I played through the first Divinity Original Sin in co-op and it was somehow a lot better in that regard. In DOC 2 co-op just feels disjointed and incomplete, which is a huge disappointment to me and my gaming partner.
Run around a planet doing a quest .. summon your ship .. the ship gets perma-stuck in the trees while trying to land to your summon location. Restart game, loose all quest progress because in game Dev's infinite wisdom you can only save manually at your ship or at certain very limited locations that you can't often even get to without the ship. Let's not even mention of things placed randomly in unreachable locations you can't mine to, like a cargo drop that's embedded inside the crashed ship. Bravo! After all this time this game has been worked on, you'd think these and so many other dumb bugs would get ironed out, but no .. this game is just hopeless.
I have purchased this game with the sole intention of playing it on a local LAN co-op with my teen daughter. However we had nothing but problems with this game from the start. Even the local co-op requires GOG Galaxy to play .. and it's horrible. First, sending and accepting in "Invite" is a crapshoot and half the time we end up closing and reopening Galaxy struggling to get my daughter to join into my game. Second, and the worst part is that while playing, my game as a host keeps freezing up with the hourglass keeps popping up on the black screen and then resuming again, sometimes every 5-10 minutes. And finally, it just plain crashes to desktop after one of those hourglasses too many. I am absolutely considering getting a refund for both of our copies and trying this on Steam instead.
